This is a 1986 ASC Mercury McLaren NO. 86-0241, and it is in decent overall condition and has been driven at least once a week over the past year. The car was purchased by the prior owner about a year ago, and he bought it from a gentleman who had it for over 20 years. It was mechanically and functionally checked over and had the tires installed so the gentleman I bought it from could drive it to the beach until he had time to restore it. That time didn't come, and I won't have time to refresh it either, so it is up for grabs at NO RESERVE to someone that can give it the attention it deserves. The paint is silver, and appears to have been redone at some point. It is shiny and pretty, but does show scratches, scuffs, and other blemishes, but NO rust or damage. The top is blue and the cloth portion of it looks nice, but the threads all over it are starting to come undone and wear out from age. There is a seam pull on the passenger side that has come undone completely, but could be sewn again, along with the entire top. Plastic windows in the top are in very good condition, and show nicely. The top itself is power and does not function at this time. I do not know why, and have not investigated anything on the car. The button for it was hanging from its mounting hole when I bought the car, and there it remains. Glass is good all around, but the side windows will need tinted again because they have little pock marks all over them. Power window on driver side works, but passenger side works sporadically from both switch locations, and is slightly off its track. Tail light covers are intact, but are affixed incorrectly from stock. Headlight covers are lightly fogged and show use. Wheels are in need of refinishing, but are true and well-balanced. Tires were a recent addition as mentioned earlier, and have at least 85% of the usable tread remaining. All badges and emblems are intact and in good condition. Dash is clean and neat. All switches and buttons do what they should. Factory radio works, but I don't have a cassette to try cassette player. E-Brake works. Carpet is in average condition and needs cleaned more than anything. Rear cubby area is clean and functional. RECARO seats are aged and worn, and have cracks and small tears in multiple locations. They will need recovered or seat covers installed over them. A/C compressor clutch engages when you hit the A/C switch, but does not blow cold air. Again, I do not know why, and have not investigated it. Center console is solid and shows no cracks or damage. Shifter is in good condition and works as it should. Warning center is intact and lights work. All gauges appear to be correct and functional, and speedo is accurate within 2mph when compared to GPS. Vintage Whistler radar detector powers on, but I have no clue if it works or not. Headlights work. Brake lights work. Parking lights work. Turn signals work. Horn DOES NOT work. Glove box light works. Dash lights work. Inside of the top has no liner, and is bare. Sun visors are intact, but worn and the clips are damaged. Engine bay is relatively clean, and the prior owner did do a tune up, plugs, wires, fluid service and other basic things to make it ready for regular use. It starts easily, idles cleanly and smoothly, and is ready to go when you are. Put it in gear and it drives very nice, with steady power and no stuttering or hiccups. Mash the throttle, and it takes off quickly with a nice bark from the exhaust. I have driven it about 100 miles myself, and see no issues with the drivability and performance of the car. Brakes were refreshed and it stops quickly and without any pulling or fade. It doesn't get hot, oil pressure doesn't drop, and it doesn't exhibit any signs of any mechanical or functional issues. Ride is soft and bouncy, and I am pretty sure it could use new struts and shocks to alleviate that, but it isn't bad for cruising around town. Underside is clean, bare metal, and has no rot or rust, just typical patina and dirt that comes off with a wire brush. The car is showing 85,769 miles on the odometer, which is believed to be correct, however, the Florida DMV put EXEMPT on the mileage portion of the title due to the model year, and the prior owner not realizing that he had to tell them to put actual on it.
