1986 Mercury Capri SC 5.0

1986 ascMcLaren, which is based on the Mercury Capri (which is of course Mercury's twin to the Ford Mustang). It is a two-seat convertible with the renowned 5.0 engine. This car shows 19,xxx miles. I have owned it for more than thirteen years. The previous owner claimed that the then-18k miles were original, and that the car's fading paint and interior were due to it having been left outside in the sun with the top down (and way overpolished) during its early years. I have never been able to confirm the accuracy of that statement.
The red paint is thin and the interior needs some prettying up. The car starts, runs and drives great. The power locks and windows work. The original front spoiler cracked and has been removed. I have an expensive NOS front spoiler and more expensive NOS convertible top for it, that are still in the boxes and will go with the car. (The current top has seen better days.) The top is manual and goes up and down just fine; it does not latch in the back very well (you can see this in the photos). The NOS spoiler and top were purchased from the dealer in Florida who bought all of the old ascMcLaren stock and now sells parts for a pretty penny.
