1987 Mercedes-Benz 300-Series 300TD

Welcome to the narrative of this rare 1987 CA youngtimer 300 Diesel Wagon. The car is part of my personal MB collection which I am putting up for sale here at this time. We have recently become empty-nesters and it’s time to downsize and travel. The other two cars offered are a silver 1990 560 SEL and a silver 1995 320e convertible .

The car was first registered in Texas where I bought it in 2006. It has always been garaged.

This Mercedes is a 1987 TD Wagon of the w124 chassis type. While ubiquitous in Europe, only 900 of these were imported into the US, and only in 1987. The car is very rare and if you are a diesel enthusiast, this is your chance to own a piece of automotive history. The car received a custom paint job in 2007 in the original arctic white color. It came with a biofuel adapter kit which allows you to use either straight diesel, new or filtered used vegetable oil like soy or peanut, or any mixture of these to run the engine. I have been using diesel and the various filters in this system are new. The car has received meticulous maintenance over the 18 years of my ownership, nearly all performed at the same shop. A list is below. Maintenance records reflecting these repairs can be provided to the next owner. Highlights of the work done include a custom paint job with all body moldings removed, new transmission, front end, AC conversion to R134a, and replacement/repair of many wear and tear items. The headlights have been swapped from the sealed beam and plastic trim type to the all glass European style. The body trim pieces underneath have also been replaced with a set eliminating the holes for the headlight washer-wiper and properly color matched by my body shop. The side blinkers were upgraded to all clear with yellow bulbs to give the car a very clean, modern face. The rear light lenses are also new.

The car has no mechanical issues and is in excellent cosmetic condition. There is no rust.

While the car presents with more miles than you might expect, items that receive wear in these circumstances have been diligently replaced. The car is moved regularly so that important fluids circulate and lubricate the various hoses and parts. The tires are new 205/65 R15 Sentury Touring.

The paint is waxed, smooth, and shiny without blemishes. There are a few nicks, but no dents.

The car also comes with a custom breathable canvas cover. I have used it in the past when it’s parked outside during weekend trips or at the airport. It keeps the car clean and inconspicuous.

A few blemishes exist (please consult the walk through video for specifics):

· The radio/cassette player is aftermarket but I have not used it for a long time. While the antenna mast has been replaced, I don’t know if its extends.

· The temperature gauge on the dash does not work.

· The cruise control is inop

· The front passenger seat surface shows two stress rips have been backstopped with pieces of leather from below.
