Description:
1970 Mercedes-Benz 220D
This is a very nice car, very nice find. Overall in good condition. Especially getting close to its 50th year mark. The car has not been cleaned, or chromed buffed any at all. So you can imagine the car would shine up real nice. This car could be the perfect candidate for a restoration. Or drive as it is with minor repair for much many years to come. Any Questions, please message me. It is a pickup only. But if needed help with shipping. I can help.
Condition of car: The mileage says 35370. But there is no way with these cars to tell if it turned over or not.
Exterior:
1.)The car's paint has been resprayed at some point. Light cracking in the respray paint. But nothing penetrating the original paint.2.) There some blistering to the front right fender in the light location. Can see by pictures in the link provided that there are couple more spots with some rust. Which is common to find on cars in the Midwest America's.
3.) Couple minor dents and scratches. All that can be seen by the pictures provided in the link.
Lights:1.)The dash lights seem not to be coming on, not sure if its a fuse or just the bulbs.
2.)The front right parking light bulb seems to be blown.
3.)The blinker switch sometimes does not hold by itself in the right position.
4.)The rear tail light has a crack in it. But I have included a replaced lens with the car. Just need to change it out. 5.)The Glow light when starting does not work All other lights are functioning properly.Interior:1.)Steering might need a new bearing in the top end of the wheel. You can hear little clink when it hits a bump. Its nothing that effects steering. But under the horn pad is usually a top bearing. I think it might be worn.
2.)The car has that Mercedes leather and fuel smell. But I do not think it was a smoke free car. There is a couple small burns on the carpets. And the center vent has one spot. But I can include a nice vent to replace it.3.) The clock does not seem to be working, may just be a fuse. But these clocks were known for messing up as well.
Engine and transmission:1.) Good shape, needs cleaning. Oil and other fluids changed. Oil looks pretty cleaned. Some minor leakage as any older car has. Little oil got spilled on the engine from the tow ride home. But should clean right off.2.) Transmission appears to be strong. Fluid seems to be clean.3.) There is a New Battery I put on.
Drive train and Brakes1.) Been sitting for awhile so the brakes seem little froze up. When in use. The front right one seems to be grabbing only. Just a matter of taking them apart and given a good cleaning and get them unstuck though.2.) There are new tires on the car.3.) Rubber pieces that hold the shifting linkage together is missing. Got a plastic tie on it so that I could shift it. But obviously needs fixed.
There is a spare tir, original jack, and Tire tool. But there is NOT no tool set or booklets with the car sadly.
