As recently as the mid 1990's, and early 2000's you could pick up a nice condition 1971 280SL Pagoda Roadster for around $20,000. Almost in the blink of an eye, that's what a basket case now goes for - with good condition examples regularly selling north of $75k and more.
Beside more powerful engine and being a TRUE EUROPEAN SL, this beauty also features more elegant European style "short" bumpers, European One Piece Square headlights and they make this Mercedes look absolutely stunning - Just the way how the Mercedes-Benz designed the R107 SL!
350SL was a limited production model of R107 series with only 15,304 cars ever produced from 1971 until 1980! There was only a handful of 350SL's made each year or its production.
About the car:
This SL is coming out of the long term storage due to its owners age and health issues.
It starts right up, it runs and drives, but before any serious and long distance driving is done mechanical lookover is in order.
It's elegant Red Paint has a nice shine and luster, and coupled with Parchment Interior, this SL looks stunning!!! There are some imperfections in the paint (bubbling across the corner of the hood, bottom part of the trunk lid and driver front fender above the headlight) but from few feet away it looks great and its is very presentable. It is up to new owner to decide which way to take this beauty!
This Mercedes comes with both soft and the hard top! Black Soft top is operating with ease, but it is showing its age and canvas will need to be replaced.
Hard top is in good shape, including all the original Securit glass, but headliner will need to be replaced.
Factory VIN # stamping on the front radiator support is still present.

Parchment Leather Interior really compliments its exterior color, and it's in great condition! Seats are nice and comfortable.
Being a European model it has manual windows, and no A/C, making it even rarer than its loaded US-spec siblings!

3.5 Liter V8 M116 European Spec. V8 Engine starts up on the first try. Like mentioned before, this SL was kept in storage and rarely used over past few years, so mechanical lookover and refreshment is in order before any long distance or serious driving is done.
