2 vehicles - 1987 mercedes 300td wagons
1987 Mercedes-Benz E-Class
Both vehicles are not currently running and would need to be towed or loaded on a flatbed.
The darker colored of the 2 was my daily driver for about 3 years. It has a grease car brand waste vegetable oil kit installed. I purchased it with the kit already installed and it ran great on vegetable oil, actually better than it did on diesel. I developed a small leak from a coolant hose that runs underneath the vehicle to warm the veggie fuel tank. It overheated 1 time for a brief moment and it was drinking coolant the next time I tried to start it so it has been parked ever since.
I originally purchased the lighter colored wagon as a parts car for the vehicle described above, but after the overheating incident I decided to rebuild the lighter colored wagon with what I could salvage from both vehicle. I put a lot of work into it:
-The injectors have been cleaned, rebuilt, and installed with new seals and washers.
-New glow plugs installed, carbon was reemed from the combustion chambers.
-I had brand new exhaust installed from front to back at the Mercedes dealership, including a new trap oxidizer for the turbo.
-New radiator.
-I purchased a seal/gasket kit for the entire engine and installed new gaskets on the vacuum pump, oil pump, water pump, crankshaft radial seal.
-Rebuilt injector pump with new seals/gaskets/washers.
-Replaced leaking fuel lines at the fuel tank pickup/return and all of the rubber fuel lines in the engine bay.
After I finished the repairs the vehicle ran great, but blew white smoke out of the exhaust. I thought it was a fuel issue at first, but after a couple of drives I noticed that it was losing coolant. I planned on replacing the head gasket. I even have the special tool to remove the bolts, but I never seemed to get around to it and both cars have been parked for about 2 years now. I wish I had the time and motivation to finish it out because I really love these cars. They drive great and the om603 engine is one of the best diesel engines ever put in a vehicle. Hopefully there's someone out there that can put in the work that they deserve. I will include all extra parts, hardware, maintenance diagrams, and the head bolt tool.
