1987 Mercedes Benz 190e 2.3 16 Cosworth 3-Owners, Low Miles, Records since 1999
1987 Mercedes-Benz 190-Series 2.3-16L Cosworth
Reluctantlyselling my1987 Mercedes 190e 2.3 -16. If you are reading this, you likely are fully aware of the significance of these cars as this was the car thatfuelled competition with BMW ultimately prompting BMW to respond by creating the original M3. Equipped with an amazing Cosworth developed engine attached to a dog-leg 5-speed manual transmission, this is an exceedingly rewarding car to drive.
This carhas had only 3 enthusiast owners including myself. The original Owner was James Dorfman who sold it in 1999 (with 22,000 miles on Odometer) to my friend, Henry Adamson. While in Henry's ownership, all service records were retained attesting to the diligent care he lavished on the car. In 2003, Mr. Adamson developed deteriorated vision causing his inability to drive. At this point, the car had logged approximately 68,00 miles. From 2003 until 2014, the car was used very sparingly though it was continually maintained. When I acquired the car, it had travelled just 71,000 miles. I purchased the car primarily to be used by my Daughter when she was home from College. The current mileage is just shy of 77,000. Of course I've maintained the car to continual high standard and have always been comfortable with my Daughter driving the car anyplace she wanted to go including a major 2500 mile road trip that she did last summer.
Everything functions on the car including the outside air temp gauge and the stop-watch (replaced LED Displays). The A/C works however; I do not like the way the thermostat operation cuts in and out. The brakes and clutch all are in good condition as are the tires.
Cosmetically, the car is in overall very good condition. According to the Service Records, the car was substantiallyre-painted by The Last Detail (North Chicago, IL) due to hail damage. I've tried to illustrate in the photos two cosmetic issues as follows:
- Typical paint cracking on the deck-lid spoiler (needs to be re-painted using elastic paint product)
- A very small area of surface corrosion above the rear bumper valance on the left, rear side.
The car is located very near O'Hare Airport and I encourage anyone interested in the car to inspect it.
I've included a Buy-It-Now option at $19,950 which is also the price I am offering the car for locally.
I'm available to answer any questions or arrange inspection - please call me. Robert Lederer 630-417-2876
