1985 Mercedes-Benz 300-Series

Up for your consideration is my 1985 Mercedes W123 Turbo Diesel 300CD. The 5 cylinder Turbo Diesel was last produced in 1985 and is considered one of the best coupes Mercedes ever manufactured. I have owned this CD for many years, actually two of my friends and I have traded it back and forth because we all liked driving it. This is an excellent cruising car and a pleasure to drive. The car has always been a southern car so rust is not a problem. I tried to take some shots of the undercarriage to show that its a southern car. The car is in good shape and has been maintained through the years, however this is not a show car, it has imperfections. Mechanically the car runs fine (see the video where I tried to let you hear and see the sound of engine and to illustrate that it doesn't smoke and clatter). I have used synthetic oil for many years, I adjust the valves about every 12,000 miles. I changed from the R-12 to R-134 several years ago and the air conditioning works. All the power windows work properly. The sun roof will open but was very hard to close so I quit using it, I've not had it open in a couple of years and it does not leak. I replaced the original radio with one I could plug my phone into, I still have the original and will include it. The dash has a few cracks in it (see pictures) but I have placed a dash cover on it. I have also purchased, but not installed, new weather stripping for the doors which I will include with the car. There is some small stitching pulling apart on the rear seat. The tachometer quit working a couple of years ago and I was told its an easy fix, I just have not prioritized it. There are a few blemishes and chips in the paint but as you can hopefully see from the pictures, the car looks very good. I rarely drive the car anywhere that someone doesn't comment on what a nice car it is or ask if I want to sell it.I've tired to give you an accurate description of the vehicle and an honest assessment of work that you might want to do. The car, as I said earlier, is fun to drive. I would have absolutely have no fears of heading up to Montana or California and back without an issue. I put rear brakes on the car about two weeks ago, I replaced the calipers and brakes on the front in January of this year. The tires have about 5000 miles on them, the battery is about 1 year old. I keep up with the routine maintenance and the car sits in the garage most of the time, we drive it maybe 2000 miles a year.The only reason I'm selling it is because we are selling our house and I have too many cars to try and park in a regular neighborhood. I am selling the car for what I believe to be a very fair price. These are collector cars and with just a little time and money you could turn it into a show car. Thanks for looking and I'm sorry for being long winded, but I wanted to describe the car accurately. If you want to have the car shipped, once you make the arrangements, I will be glad to meet a shipper, obviously shipping costs are the responsibility of the purchaser. If the car needs to sit here for a while that's not a problem once it is paid for. I am sure the new owner will enjoy this car as it increases in value.
