This beautiful car is being sold with no reserve! Someone will be driving in style in this beautiful classic Benz; be great if it were you, wouldn't it?!
I've made 6 videos of walk-around, start, drive, accelerate. You can view them here:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J3rPARbLhwc&list=PLEdTYqvP_X8ucsEejrtDA8NiXmlMC4n6P
We fell in love with classic Mercedes many years ago and have collected several of them. We bought this gorgeous 300CD about 10 years ago for our collection, and we've decided now its time to let her move on and be enjoyed by someone new. 1985 was the last year Mercedes built the very desirable W123 series 2 door coupe, so this is the best of the series. They were made from 1978 until 1985 and only the last 4 years have the turbo charger. They already had a reputation for being very economical and reliable, but with the turbo charger this one has more horsepower and its great fun to drive everyday.
This 300CD car has desert red metallic paint and palomino leather interior. The quality of the paint they used back then is amazing. Even after 33 years this paint still has a deep shine and gloss to it. I get compliments on this car whenever I take it out. There are only very small scuffs or small rock chips, not visible unless you're within a couple feet of the car. There is no rust on the body, virtually none underneath, and even the trunk and spare tire area are clean and virtually rust-free (see photos). The wheels have been upgraded to new chrome Bundt cake style wheels, they are nearly perfect with no curb rash or scratches. The tires have plenty of tread on them, less than 1,000 miles driven on these tires. The spare is steel rim, new tire on spare. I also have two extra wheels with new Blizzak tires on them, listed separately on eBay but winning bidder may have them at reduced cost if desired.
The interior is very clean as well, look closely to see in the photos. There is very little wear on the seats at all, there is one small tear on the driver seat back only about 3 inches long. Other than that, it looks fabulous and clean. There are no broken springs in the seats and it is very comfortable to drive. The door panels and carpets are clean and even the wood is in wonderful condition. On the interior, most everything looks very nice. Although the head liner has peeled away a bit in the very back, this could be easily replaced to bring it in line with the rest of the interior. !!Note that if you click Buy It Now, I will include a new headliner, to be installed by you!! But the best thing about this classic Mercedes is the way it drives. Before putting the car up for sale, we had a Bosch certified mechanic do a complete inspection and basic service on mechanicals to make sure its ready to go for you. All the gauges are working, including the clock. The power door locks work the way they are supposed to. The vacuum system is working properly. The power sunroof opens and closes at the push of a button. The power windows work in the front and right rear, the left rear appears to need a new switch. With the sunroof open and the windows down, its almost like being in a convertible. In fact, the car has no "B" pillar and my father always called this a "hard top convertible" when we were growing up. The climate control functions, blows hot heat, but the AC is not blowing cold, may need a re-charge.
This car has LOADS of power and is shifting smoothly through all the gears. You can comfortably cruise at 85 miles per hour while still getting 27mpg on diesel fuel. The turbo kicks in relatively quickly, even in first gear from a stop - it feels effortless to pull away quickly and reach 60 or 70 mph quickly. The brakes are very strong and do not squeak, the suspension is also very nice and has that classic Mercedes sweet ride quality.
Please look at all the pictures, the car is not new and it is not a trailer queen, but boy is it a fantastically well preserved original and it has many hundreds of thousands of miles ahead. If you have any questions or would like to schedule a test drive, please send me a note through Ebay and I will get back to you promptly. I can also do a video walk around so you can see and hear the car.I would prefer to sell this car locally, because it is so impressive in person, but I can also assist in shipping arrangements (paid for by the buyer) or an airport pick up for any out of town winning bidders. Please have your funding in order and do all your "due diligence" BEFORE placing a bid. These cars are commanding anywhere from $10k to $20k and I've seen flawless examples priced above $40k. We have a very reasonable "buy it now" price, and based on a recently closed auction for the same year and model (but with higher miles, not as nice wheels, etc) I expect this auction to end with someone clicking the "buy it now" button when they see that the bidding is headed there anyway. The car is being offered locally, so seller reserves the right to end auction early if purchased locally.
I can help with international shipping, have shipped cars to Europe this year.International bidders welcome!!!
Thank you for stopping by and good luck !!
