For sale is my 1987 560 SEC
5.6 liter V8, automatic transmission
Four wheel independent suspension
Power seats and power head rest function
Power antenna
Heated seats
I've owned the car since 2011 and believe that I am the 3rd owner.
These cars are absolutely the best model in my opinion. I have owned two 560s in the past and love them both.. I'm selling this one because I just had a baby and as much as I would like to keep it, I don't have the time anymore to drive it and they are not the easiest car to maintain. If you are in any way familiar with the complexities of owning an older Benz, then you can relate.
Currently, it has a rough idle every once in a while. However, it drives nice and strong once you start to accelerate. The cause for the idle issue may be from a vacuum leak or an intake manifold gasket leak. In either case, I don't have the time or desire at this point to play around with it. The rear actuators for the suspension also need attention. They might need replacing or the self leveling suspension may need to be adjusted. Most people decide to convert the rear to just installing Bilstein shocks. The dash board has a couple cracks which is unfortunately typical for these cars
which i have included in the pictures.. The sunroof moves back and forth and pops up like it should. However, the interior portion for the sunroof has detached from the clips so it either needs to be repaired or slide it manually. I have mentioned the few negative aspects of the vehicle that I am aware of because I would want someone to do the same if I were purchasing something.Please keep in mind that this car is not for everyone. It is not recommended for the first time driver due to the power and speed of the vehicle. Keep in mind this car was designed for Germany and the Autobahn. The upkeep of these types of cars are not similar to that of your average Toyota camry. (No offense to camry drivers)The previous owner has had the timing chain guides replaced which I have the service records for. I recently have repaired or replaced the following:
Brake pads, rotors, calipers front and rear
Brake master cylinder
Oil change and filter using 20w50 (proper viscosity)
A/C service, converted to R134 and blows cold!
Bosch battery
Tires
Original Becker radio, removed and sent to New Jersey factory to be rebuilt. Functions as new and I had a aux. port added to rear from which a cable is extended to front.
Spark plugs, cables, distributor cap.
Dark tinted windows
All four windows function without problems.
I have described the vehicle the best I could.
