Description:

1965 Mercedes-Benz SL-Class 230SL

You are bidding on a 1965 Mercedes 230SL.German version.

The car is showing 57,987 Kilomters (about 36,031 miles) on the odometer. The car is white with blue interior, blue soft top ad black hard top, original how it came from the factory and how it is shown on the data card. It has the Fuel injected 6-cylinder engine with 4-speed manual transmission, power steering, and power brakes. For my opinion the manual transmission fits way better to the car and gives it the sportive character as it should.

An aftermarket 5-speed Gearbox can be installed without major conversions.

The car is documented with the data card from Mercedes USA. It shows the car left the factory with the following options:

Body Style: 230SL W113

Soft Top: 723 (Navy Blue Fabric Folding Top)

11304210010691

113042 - 230SL

1-Left Hand Drive

0-Manual Transmission

010691- Sequential Number

The car has been repainted several years ago and is starting to show its age. The interior is in very good condition with no cracks in the dash and no rips or tears in the seats. The carpet is good but the passenger side carpet beside the seat where you get in is starting to unravel. The Blue convertible soft top is in good condition and looks nice. The car is very solid but does have some rust. The motor is a non-matching numbers 250 EFI engine. Actually this engine is the better engine since it is a newer development and does not base on the old 220SE Ponton engine. However you can not tell the difference of the engine since it is the same block.

The previous owner had owned the car for several years and kept it in his house garage. It had been sitting for a few years.

The car runs and drives. All the gauges appear to work. This is a great looking original car that with a little work could be a great driving car as is or a great restoration.

Finished cars in good condition go for about 80-100k. Parts and labor on these cars are compareatively cheap, so this is worth the investment.

There is an article about the SL Pagoda as an investment opportunity:
