1962 Lincoln Continental
Owned 30 years. Will be hard to part with. Always gets a big crowd and such a high quality solid vehicle. You can feel the quality and pride when you are in it and driving it.
Bought in Tucson in 1989 and restoration finished in about 1996. Originally the car was sold in Tucson and has been in Tucson or Yuma since new. Car always stored in dark garage and now driven about 15 miles weekly and taken to shows. Twice won best 1961-1965 at LCOC Nationals Ventura and Irvine plus many other awards. Shown at Fabulous Fords several times, plus Palm Springs, Hollywood, San Diego, Rancho Santa Fe, Scottsdale, and Phoenix. Dependable and powerful. Wonderful for long freeway trip! Very correct restoration and judged accordingly. Retiring soon and need to reduce the herd. Most work completed in 1990's and of course many things replaced again over 30 years of ownership. Car is so clean- and ready for show. No known rust or body issues.
Restored with 1962 Lincoln paint color Scotch Mist, correct black and white leather interior replaced. Rebuilt engine & engine accessories, transmission, interior, trunk. Many parts from Bakers. Correct headliner, dome lamp, trunklining, jack and tools, real walnut trim replaced. Has woodgrain matching interior knobs and steering wheel all perfect. No missing parts. Door panels and dash replaced excellent, no cracks. Still has original great condition carpet, not an ill-fitting reproduction! New brake system including master cylinder, hoses, shoes, wheel cylinders done last year. Correct dual exhaust system replaced mufflers, pipes, and resonators; steering box, hoses, and pump replaced; carburetor rebuilt. Clock works great. Radio and power antenna works. All four windows work. Three power door locks work- fourth lock a little sleepy. A/C and heat does not work properly- common problem with vacuum dash selector switch. Converted to 134A and can operate with makeshift hidden under dash switch.
Rare factory speed control (cruise control) works. Factory headlight dimmer disconnected since it was too annoying (have all parts). Wipers, all lights/signals work, horns work. Washer disconnected since I do not keep bag full. New correct 950-14 tires in 2010. Has correct WW spare too. Roof rail and trunk weatherstrip replaced with correct reproduction set. Gauges and lighters work. This month oil and filter changed- done routinely. New battery last year. Power trunk works. Only one direction of power seat works. Problem is with replaceable plastic gears in seat motor.
All locks operate with two sets of keys. Exterior and interior chrome, & stainless beautiful. No dents or missing pieces. A few paint chips not very noticeable. Comes with shop manuals, and original-to-car owners manual. Mileage unknown, shows 83,000. Speedometer and odometer replaced with working cluster. Please ask me for additional photos. Will keep car in locked garage and assist with shipping logistics. Have all receipts- 30 years worth of paperwork included!
