1969 Land Rover SERIES 2A - Safari
1969 Land Rover series 2a
Up for auction is "Winston" a dear family member. He is need of a new home due to failing health. I bought Winston in Canada from a Classic car restoration group. At that time he had a new paint job, all parts that needed reworked or replaced was done by strick Landy standards. The body was removed from frame and a new galvanized steel frame was added. Fantastic driving 4x4 with all four gears in High and Low. new battery 2 years ago, new clutch and bearing. When the clutch work was done the mechanic noticed small pieces of metal in the tranny housing, so he pulled it and the tranny is now in the back boxed up parts and ready for redo or replaced. Shortly after obtaining the Landy, I began to have health issues - so I only drove him 300 miles... There is no rust according to the mechanic (I am not able to check). The engine purrs and he even has a crank so you can crank start him... Last time over 2 years ago when I drove him, he cranked over in one crank. Like all vintage landy's he leaks around the doors. The Safari roof doesn't leak. some doors need tweeking as they need you to push on them to close them... no big deal. This wonderful 1 ton truck is seeking a new home ONLY due to I am unable to safely drive him with the clutch. not sure if it is 2.5 or 2.6.I am open to trades / and or cash. I need an automatic. Would prefer a 1990 Land Cruiser or an automatic LR in good running condition. So I am open and you feel free to ask questions... Buyer MUST arrange shippin, etc. as truck needs to be hauled.
