1973 Land Rover Series III 88 Safari
Price: US $29,900.00
Description:
1973 Land Rover Other Safari model
I brought this home several years ago as a project to work on with our son. We spent over 3 years going through every system on this Series III. All of the parts were bought from Rovers North. Runs and drives like new. All lights, gauges and switches work 100%.Upgraded ignition, distributor, points, condenser, plugs, wires etc.
Entire front end, bearings, seals swivel ball seals, hubs etc. Replaced original transmission and gear drive transfer with a rebuilt unit from England, clutch, pressure plate and bushing. Original is included as are all of the new, extra parts.
Rebuilt Weber carb.
New British MOD wheels and Cooper Discoverer M/T 10 ply tires. All 5.
Rebuilt roof rack with welded new square tubing and powder coated, installed jerry can racks.
Flushed antifreeze, replaced.
Replaced all oils in drive train.
Engine oil and filter changed yearly regardless of mileage. Average of 200 a year to keep her running like new.
Installed winch bumper and Smittybuilt XRC 9500 waterproof winch.
Replaced working factory alternator with the Rovers North higher amp version to keep up with winch. New battery also.
Rigid LED lights on front bull bar.
Replaced a ton of small parts, hoses and fittings to ensure reliability.
Rebuilt brakes.
I have every receipt from day one. Including the previous owners receipts. The rarely kept manual start rod is behind the seat. Yes, you can actually start the engine in case your starter fails. Works quite well too.
There are totes full of extra parts, new hoses, belts, windshield glass, thermostats, factory air cleaner etc. I like to have parts handy.
The original transmission has the Fairey Overdrive. I replaced it because the 1-2 synchronizer was worn and I want to rebuild it since it's out. it works and shifts fine, but I haven't had a chance to rebuild it yet.
The roof rack has a set of dual jerry can holders mounted. Two, five gallon fuel cans on one side and two, five gallon water cans on the other. Cans not included.
There are two more sets of mounted tires and wheels included but I don't have a picture handy.
Frame is in excellent condition.
This machine is in perfect running order, my wife and I take her out occasionally to keep her young. I can show the buyer all of the extra parts, wheels, and receipts when they come to inspect it.
I would like the room in the garage, so I guess I'll put her up for sale once and see what happens.
Buyer is responsible for all shipping arrangements and costs. But I will do what I can to help out if possible.
I have the title in hand of course, she is licensed and insured as we do drive her around on dry days. Never seen rain or snow since I've owned her.
Cash is preferred, any other payment method will have to be cleared through the bank before title is signed over.
