Description:
1974 Land Rover 109 Series III
Notice the photo of the identification plate. Hagerty's web page for the model:https://www.hagerty.com/valuation-tools/land_rover/series_iii_109/1974/1974-land_rover-series_iii_109?id=aCn1I000000D9ReSAKThe vehicle's 6-cylinder engine (original) needs to be rebuilt, and the chassis has significant rust (see photos) which would require welding. The included used 4-cylinder engine (see photo) needs to be picked up at the time of sale; it's stored elsewhere in Gainesville. The vehicle also includes a rebuilt water pump, replacement door seals, cover, and Haynes manual.
The chassis needs some welding where it connects to the suspension. Parts for Series III 109 are widely available. However, the 6-cylinder engine isn't as common as the 4-cylinder engine and will be more difficult tofind partsfor. The new owner can to choose to rebuild theoriginal 6-cylinder engine, replace it with the included 4-cylinder engine, or buy an engine conversion kit and install a modern engine.
The vehicle was owned by the London Electricity Board and used as a service truck by that utility company.
The vehicle would need to be towed by the new owner. Even if we can start the engine, I don't think it's safe to drive given the rust where the right rear suspension connects with the chassis.
