LAND ROVER RANGE ROVER 2-DOOR 2.4L VM TURBO DIESEL

Price: - Item location: London, United Kingdom
Description:

1988 Land Rover Range Rover

Iconic 1988 Range Rover 2- Door with the 2.5L VM Turbo Diesel, the only car ever to be displayed at the Louvre Museum in Paris as an ‘art installation’.

The VIN is SALLHABE8EA 329204

Very presentable example in the factory green, the truck is in factory specification having driven 180,000 miles in 29 years. Exported when it rolled off the production line in Solihull, Birmingham to the South of Spain, when it has spent the last 20-25 years in on a Spanish farm. This car has become a very rare sight on US highways since the two-door was never sold in America, thus a rare and collectable vehicle.

Having lived in the warm Spanish climate the car is rust free. On the highway the car can achieve very good gas mileage of around 500 miles per tank. Secondly the car is equipped with Air Conditioning, however may need some attention as the pulley to drive the compressor is missing.

Mechanically the car runs and drives ok, however there is a knocking from the VM engine, hard to tell whether thisis normal for the VM or something else, it sounds like tick tick and there is a whistling sound from the turbo under load. Thus would make the perfect candidate for a Chevy small block V8 conversion. The truck would benefit from a full re-spray and interior re-trim and an engine conversion would make in an awesome truck. A real head turner!

I hope this gives any prospective buyers an idea what could be done and how much it would cost. Or alternatively the car could be restored to its original factory specification and be an ideal collectors piece.

The VM engine was also used in many of the early Jeep Cherokee's so should be an easy truck to maintain in the US. Parts will be interchangeable with Jeep's and would imagine readily available.
