1988 Jeep Wrangler

Up for sale is this custom built 4BT Cummins diesel, intercooled, turbocharged, 1988 Jeep Wrangler YJ. This project started as a rust free (body and frame) Jeep and a retired bread delivery van. I spent 2 years building this rig, meticulously working through the details to make it very drivable and of course, to turn heads. The engine received new rod bearings and main bearings and a rebuilt injection pump. It also got a new starter and alternator. It is backed up by a fully rebuilt 1980 Ford NP435 granny low 4 speed transmission, followed by a freshened up 1971 Ford Bronco Dana 20 transfer case. Novak Adapters took care of mating everything together, as well as the twin stick transfer case setup. The rear axle is a 1988 Ford Bronco 8.8, gone through with new everything. The front axle is a 1976 Ford Dana 44 with a high pinion, also fully rebuilt. Gearing is 3.73 in both. Both axles remain full width, and the new wheels were purchased with the maximum available offset to the inside, which makes it hard to tell how wide it really is. Tires are new 35-12.50-17The interior and steps are finished in black raptor liner, and the rest of the jeep is Ford Dark Gray single stage #475The dash is custom built and reuses 3 of the original gauges from the diesel van. Fuel gauge, wipers, lights, turn signals, brake lights, etc all work as intended. Seats in front are high end Corbeau and the rear seat is a factory new YJ unit. New seat belts were installed up front. The jeep starts, runs, and drives flawlessly. A Garmin GPS unit provides directions and acts as the speedometer, cause it is always right regardless of gears and tires. It is comfortable at 55 and we have run it at 70.The soft top and soft upper doors are brand new. Other new items include the windshield, locking center console, mirrors, LED taillights, and LED headlights with integrated turn signals. All of the tie rod ends were replaced, and it has new springs on top of the axle in the rear and under the axle in front. A new Tom Woods rear driveshaft is installed. We have never installed a front driveshaft-simply because we had no intention of going off road with it. A new driveshaft can be ordered and shipped directly to the buyer on our dime if desired.
I have clear title in my name. The jeep is registered as a historic vehicle in Missouri, and as such, has not had a safety inspection. No warranty is made regarding your local laws and the ability to meet their requirements. The jeep is sold as-is where-is and neither it nor the title will leave my property without payment in full, to include any clearing of my bank and yours if a check is used for payment. Having said that, you are welcome to come take it for a ride. I may be able to shoot a video as well, but my experience is that they quickly get too big to email. Ask questions up front, but please read the description, as I think I have covered everything. Bid high and bid often. You wont see another one like this come through for a long time.
