1984 Jeep CJ CJ7

I purchased this 1984 (last year) CJ7 back in 2015 from Rudy's CJ's. Rudy is know for seeking out the best CJ's around and had been working with me to try and find an un-molestered, original body panel CJ7 with a 5-speed transmission (not 4-speed) for quite some time. This particular CJ7 came from California and was owned by the same family since new. When I purchased it the paint, body panels, frame, mechanicals, etc. were all still very original with no signs of any filler or previous body work. After no fewer than twelve coats of Meguiars number 7 the shine in the paint came back to life with the exception of the hood and windshield surround which were just too faded. The original decal from 1984 was dry and cracked so a replica was hand painted in its place by the same same artisan who I had respray the hood and windshield surround. Every hinge has been replaced with new powder coated versions. Every bulb and lamp cover has been renewed. Warn front and rear bumpers have replaced the originals. The suspension was replaced with all new shocks, springs, mounts, bushings, etc. and lifted a respectable 4" as to not alter the drivability of it. Mechanically every gasket, seal, transmission & differential cover has been renewed. This CJ does NOT leak or burn oil. A weber carburetor and electronic distributor have been fitted in place of the unreliable original versions. The vehicle ALWAYS starts and runs great even after sitting for the winter months. I drive it on the highway at 65mph plus with NO shakes, rattles, or fears. Although this Jeep looks like an off road beast, it has actually NEVER been off road before, never seen snow, salt or even rain while in my possession. The underside was always coated with WD40 back in the 80's then fluid film once it became available by the original owner and I have continued with their tradition. Fluid film obviously works great based upon the looks of this undercarriage. There are both the fiberglass factory hard top and an aftermarket best top (shown in the pictures) with the front portion able to quickly flip back without having to spend time removing all the windows, etc. A custom roll bar with front and REAR 3-pointsafetybelts was fitted to allow for my kids to travel in the back seat with me. There's a nice stereo system installed with a period correct Becker radio and mp3 player attached to a center console mounted arc audio mini amplifier and focal speakers throughout.
Still being mostly original, this CJ is NOT a flawless vehicle cosmetically. There are some minor touch-ups on the body where road rash once was, a small 1" long crack on the top of thebrown dashboard, a crack in the vinyl along the stitching in the drivers seat bottom that does NOT go all the way through to the padding but can be seen if you press down on the seat bottomwith a heavy hand. It IS aflawless vehicle mechanically!!
I'm in the automotive business and certainly know the difference between a great vehicle and one that someone made to look like a great vehicle only to resell for a quick profit. I can assure you that this CJ is a great vehicle; one that I purchased for myself with an open checkbook and maintained as such. I never planned to offer this for sale and as life goes, I'm likely going to regret selling this one day knowing I'll never be able to replace it.
