1984 Jeep CJ-7 Laredo All Original Great Restoration Candidate NICE Patina CJ7
1984 Jeep CJ Laredo
For sale is an all-original non-restored 1984 black Jeep CJ-7 Laredo. This project Jeep is a barn find that has been parked for 10 years. Non-running. I was told that it was driving very well when the fuel pump went out, then parked and never driven since. I am going to describe the Jeep as accurately as possible. It is a complete restoration candidate, it is not currently running! This is a Jeep for someone who wants to do a full tune up and full restoration. I bought it sight unseen and it just needs more work than I expected- I decided that I don't have the time to restore it, unfortunately. This will make a great Jeep for someone. Everything is there and everything is fixable. The opening bid is the minimum I will take for this Jeep, so please no low-ballers. I can part it out for more than this amount, so I am giving a discount to someone to take it complete as-is, and get this awesome Jeep back on the road where it belongs.
The good:
Single owner for 30+ years, original South Texas CJ7
Clean Texas title
Excellent carfax report
No accidents ever, no frame or body damage at all
GREAT patina on this Laredo. Paint is very sunbaked.
When I bought it I was told the original straight six AMC 258 motor is in very good condition. Same with the 4 speed manual transmission. Several thousand dollars in value right there.
Body is completely straight. Zero dents, dings, etc. One of the straightest CJs I have seen. Perfect for a restoration.
Original factory antenna in the correct placement
Frame is perfect. No rust at allon the frame- very clean and straight
No rust under the wheel wells- all clean and dry
Axles in good shape
Dash is near mint. Uncut speaker grilles and uncut radio hole. All gauges look NICE and are stock. Including clock and tach.
Odometer reads 53,355 but I have no way to confirm
Brakes look very clean. No pressure in the system, so they probably need to be bled. It had bad aftermarket wheels when I got it, so I put on factory Renegade wheels that I had in the garage. When I had the wheels off I looked at the brakes and axles- looks very clean under there. Someone had maintained this Jeep well prior to parking it.
Factory Hardtop - needs one rear hatch hinge replaced. No structural damage. VERY GOOD top. At least $1500 in value for the top and steel doors alone.
Gas tank looks very clean and dry
All rubber body mounts are surprisingly good
Factory matching hard doors with Laredo interior door cards/panels. Doors are straight as can be. Driver door missing small triangular window. This is what caused the unfortunate rust in the floor pans.
Power brakes
Power steering
Good OEM factory original Renegade wheels with pinstripe
Mint condition original rocker moldings/trim
All original hardware
Original Laredo decals/striping
Engine bay is complete- everything is stock under there. Good for a project since nothing is missing.
Prior owner claimed the engine and transmission are strong. I obviouslyhaven'thad tried to get it running, but I have no reason to doubt that.
The bad:
Non-running
Rust in the floorpans, some small spots on hood, and rust on the windshield
Some of the wiring at the fuse box was chewed by an animal and needs to be re-spliced together- not too bad
No key, will need new ignition cylinder (cheap fix)
Overall this Jeep is a perfect candidate to restore. It is getting very hard to find un-molested original CJ-7 Laredos anymore. This is sold as-is, where is. Ask me any questions, but this is as honest of a description as I can give. No tire kickers please, this Jeep is as advertised.
