1972 Jaguar E-Type

You're viewing my 1972 Jaguar XKE 2+2 Coupe project. The car runs, drives and stops but needs thoroughly gone thru before being "road worthy". I bought this Jag last year in non running condition, with the intention of semi-restoring it/making a very cool hotrod. I had fully restored a '73 V12 2+2 Coupe a few years ago that turned out stunning, and would have loved to have done something cool with this but have since decided to focus my efforts on an air cooled Porsche 911 slantnose project. I have too many other projects in various stages, and I just won't be able to get to this any time soon. Over the course of the last several months I did manage to get it running, driving and stopping but that's as far as I went. I have only driven it around the neighborhood at low speeds a few times. Suspension (upper and lower control arms) bushings up front will need replaced, front end aligned, etc.
The car was originally maroon, repainted blue years ago. I recently had the bonnet inexpensively painted because it was just in primer. Obviously it doesn't quite "match" the body, but I knew whoever buys this car is going to strip everything and redo it anyway. The previous owner tried to make the front bonnet look like a Series 1 with smaller headlight buckets, etc. There will need to be some body work to get it perfect. The body is very solid with only a few surface rust spots where the paint bubbled. The underside of the car is also very solid, which is a HUGE advantage when restoring one of those cars! This is NOT a rust bucket.
The interior is complete (most everything is in the rear cargo area, including the center console (shifter surround), padded arm rest/storage, and front bumpers/over-riders, but will need put back in place). All vinyl trim pieces/panels appear to be relatively newer and in good shape. I don't think I have the front grill, and some of the chrome exterior trim is missing (windshield surround, driver's door top garnish trim). Interior door panels look good as you can see in a few of the pics. The front leather seats are in nice shape. They are actually power seats from a Porsche 911 Carrera, and are hooked up and working. The leather rear bench seat is also in good shape. Needs carpet and headliner (not included). Windshield is cracked, all other glass is in great shape.
I have 2 bins of miscellaneous trim, headlight buckets/rings, seals, etc. The car is wearing its original Jaguar wire wheels, and they are in good shape. Exhaust is stainless steel.
This is a rare opportunity to get into a very cool E type 2+2 Coupe and build your very own resto-mod/hotrod using a very solid platform with basically everything you need already supplied. The 350ci V8 is way less expensive to work on than the original V12, has more power, is more reliable, and less thirsty at the gas pump! Yes, it's been "bastardized" like many were back in the day, but the frame wasn't modified or hacked up...SO...if you would want to go back to a Jag driveline, it's pretty straight forward. Hey, have fun with it! It can be whatever you want it to be! I'm starting the bidding at a very low opening bid of $10,000. High bid wins!
