Up for auction is very clean and well preserved 1975 International Harvester Scout II. This truck is in all original condition and has never been modified. This Scout spent the better part of the past 20 years sitting on some farm landnear the Oregon coast before being brought to the Inland Northwest. The interior of this Scout is all original and shows very well despite its age. The front seat material has deteriorated, but the rear folding seat has been well preserved and is virtually flawless. The dash is in excellent shape and has never been cut. The original AM radio remains in the truck and still works! The heater works and the fan speed works in both high and low positions. The fuelgauge does not work. The dash pad does haveseveral cracks from sitting in the sun. The original rubber floor liner remains in the truck and is inexcellent overall condition despite a few small cracks here and there. Theoriginal seat belts remain in the truck. The removable hardtop does not appear to have ever been removed and all of the interior top trim and the headliner are in great original condition.
The body of the truck is verystraight with just a few minor dings throughout. There is one larger dent on the rear tailgate as pictured and one dent on the front of the passenger front fender. Other than these minor areas the truck is very straight and shows no signs of ever being in an accident. The hood, doors and tailgate are aligned well with even gapsthroughout and open and close very smoothly. The paint on this Scout is believed to be all original and shows a very nice patina. The removable top also has original paintand is very straight as well. The body does have rust in just a few of the many areas that Scouts usually have rust in. The front of the rear quarters have rusted at the bottom, but could easily be repaired with the aftermarket patch panels available today. There is some light bubblingstarting to happen at the top of the rear wheel openings, but the rust has not gone through completely. The bottom of the driver's front fender hasbondo on it from a rustrepairattempt, but is limited to thesmall area that is pictured. The passenger front fender, rockers, door bottoms, fire wall and the back of the rear quarter panels are all solid and cancer free.
The undercarriage of this Scout is very dry and mostly rust free. The cargo area, rear wheel houses, rear body mounts and floor pans are all solid. The only area wherethere appears to be any rust underneath is the front body mount braces and a smallportion of the front floor pans where the body mounts meet them. The frame, axles and suspensioncomponents are very straight without any major rust or scaling.
Theoriginal 304 V8 and 3 speed manual transmission remain in the truck and are both in operablecondition. The clutch engages well and the transmission shifts as it should. The engine is a bit tired and could really use a rebuild at some point due to having some blow-by, butthe truck iscompletely drivable as-is. The brakes work well and have new front pads. The transfer case selectorfunctions properly and engages in 4x4 low, 4x4 high and 2wd high. All of the factory original decals remain in glove box and under the hood as well as some factory chalk markings.
Overall, this is a very well preserved Scout II in comparison to most other examples. This truck could be enjoyed as-is or would be an excellent candidate for a restoration project since it is 100% complete and original. This truck is being offered at a low reserve price.
