Vehicle Details

[THE EXPERIAN REPORT CLAIMS THAT THIS CAR HAS 154,468 MILES ON THE ODOMETER. WE CANNOT FIND ANY BACKUP ON THAT MILEAGE, AND THERE IS NOT THAT LEVEL OF WEAR AND TEAR ON ANY PART OF THE CAR. WILL DISCUSS FURTHER WITH POTENTIAL BUYERS, AND ENCOURAGE AN INSPECTION OF THE CAR.]This is a well-restored and maintained 1986 Ford Mustang LX SSP Florida Highway Patrol State Trooper pursuit car. This car was purchased new by the Florida Highway Patrol in August 1986 from Don Reid Ford in Maitland, Florida for $10,833.70, and operated as unit 0293. It was auctioned off by the FHP and then restored to its service configuration as unit 0293.Whether in your own car barn or at a local car show, this SSP Mustang in FHP livery ALWAYS attracts a ton of attention. Everyone loves turning on the blue flashing lights, blasting the siren and playing with the police PA system. I’m downsizing my collection, and it’s time for someone new to become the custodian of a well-restored and maintained part of automotive history from when the police joined the high-performance game and set loose the Mustangs and Camaros on our highways and turnpikes. The Mustang SSP was ordered with the 5.0L electronic fuel injection high-output V-8, a five-speed manual overdrive transmission, the 2.73 traction-lock rear axle, P225 60VR15 Goodyear Eagle performance tires, sand beige/buckskin cloth bucket seats, air conditioning, AM/FM radio, the two-tone black M1724 and cream W1077 FHP paint codes, special speedometer cables, blue silicone hoses for the cooling system, and a water bypass hose. And of course the requisite black steel wheels with small chrome center caps. The car comes with the window sticker and a full Marti Report. According to the Marti Report it is 1 of 176 in this configuration.I am not an expert on period-correct police car equipment but I can list some of the equipment on this car:•Jetsonic blue FHP light bar by Federal Signal Corporation with alley lights and takedown lights•Unity Model 6 A-pillar mounted spotlight•Kustom Signals Inc. Trooper radar with front and rear antenna, remote control and case•Motorola four-channel police radio•Whelen siren and PA systemThe car comes with a plastic clamshell case that fits over the lightbar and has “NOT IN SERVICE” stenciled on it. There is also a binder with restoration notes (such as how the FHP installed the chrome drip rails above the side windows) and FHP history. All of the lights and accessories on the car work, and all of the flashing lights, sirens, radar and PA also work. The police radio turns on but I have never tried to dial it into any police frequencies. The exterior paint and decals are in great shape. There are a few places on the front bumper where the paint has peeled off below the left headlights and under the left side of the center grill opening. The interior is also in great shape as seen in the photos. The car starts right up and runs without any overheating (as it’s a more modern EFI engine compared to older muscle cars that seem to always overheat.) This car shows well and looks good in any collection or at any car show!(A note for anyone using the Buy It Now function - the car isn't sold until we execute a bill of sale. I've had issues previously where potential buyers try to take the car off the market and then drive down the price. Let's not do that with this. Thanks.)
