Description:

1970 Ford Torino TORINO COBRA 429

Greetings from Sunny Florida. This year is my 20th year on eBay. I have a perfect score so please, buy with confidence.
You are looking at a VERY RARE and ORIGINAL; Factory N-code;429-4V Thunder Jet; 1970 Ford Torino Cobra optioned with a C-6 Automatic Transmission, Power Steering, Power Disc Brakes, and a Factory Tachometer!! Up until 2016, this car was a Barn/Garage Find that had been off the road and indoor stored for the better part of 30 years. I hesitate to use the word 'survivor' as it seems to be an overused term in the old car hobby this car has undergone many changes I am not sure it really fits, but this car has 'survived' through all of its early street racing days and then onto it's day to day use throughout the '70s and early 80's!! This car has just completed a three + years restoration, and she was a very solid car to start with.
This car is a REAL Torino Cobra with its Cobra only 0A38N VIN in a GREAT color combination with a desirable option list as backed up by the MARTI Report. The winning bidder will receive the MARTI report with the title. After being built in Atlanta, Ga, this ORIGINAL N-code 429-4V 1970 Ford Torino Cobra spent its early life just north of Indianapolis hailing from the City of Anderson, Indiana originally.
This car was street raced for a time as evidenced by the High Beam Delete Cold Air Intake and the Trunk Mounted Battery Tray. My guess is that this car spent some time on Chicago's South Side engaging in some Late Night Street Fights!! I have left these items intact as a tribute to this car's Street Fighting past!! After the car was retired from it's Street Racing days it was used as a Daily Driver of sorts and then it was put away and barn/garage kept. It was tucked safely away sparing it from the elements; which is what has kept this car as solid as it is. This car was clearly a driver for a number of years before being put away awaiting the restoration she so richly deserved. Well, the restoration got sidetracked as life happened and other matters became a priority. The Torino Cobra ended up being parked, moved from barn to garage to garage with each family relocation for nearly 3 decades still thinking of it as a future someday project, that was until the spring of 2016 when we started her "rebirth".
This car was a Stock Order at Fairway Ford Sales in Anderson, Indiana and ordered in the Indianapolis 46 DSO with the T-code Medium Red Hue Top Coat with a Black Broadcloth/Vinyl Bench Seat Interior. This Cobra was further spec'd out with the Standard Cobra mill; the N-code 429-4V 360HP Thunder Jet Engine, C6 Automatic Transmission, and a 9 inch 3.00 geared conventional rear end! This '70 Torino Cobra was well equipped and per the Deluxe Marti Report originally ordered as follows:
429-4V 360hp V-8 Engine
C6 Automatic Transmission
3.00 geared 9 inch Conventional Rear
Red Exterior Paint
Black Broadcloth/Vinyl Bench Seat Interior
14 Wide Oval Belted Raised White Letter Tires
Power Steering
Power Disc Brakes
Tachometer
AM Radio
Dual Rear Seat Speakers
Dual Color-Keyed Racing Mirrors
Body Side Moldings
The N-code 429-4V Thunder Jet Engine Starts on the 1st turn of the key and has an authoritative rumble to it.
It idles nicely and is very responsive. The engine is bone stock right down to its original Intake and Exhaust manifolds complete with heat shield, engine lift hooks, Air Cleaner Autolite Carburetor. It runs incredibly well and she has plenty of old school get up and go to move this rare Cobra down the block to be admired and gawked at.
Here are the links to a couple of video's of the Cobra Running PRIOR to her amazing restoration:

The C6 Transmission drops right into gear as it should and shifts through the gears with no issue. The bulletproof 9 inch brings up the rear and is smooth and quiet. There are many new parts that have been replaced/installed on the Cobra to get it back on the road and have it be a reliable and safe driver once again.

The Cobra has been freshly painted back to her ORIGINAL Medium Red Factory Paint Color. (Ford #2008-A) The front battery apron has had a piece sectioned in so we could mount the new tray. This is a REAL DEAL Cobra with a very solid chassis and excellent good bones. The fact that she was garaged kept all these years makes her all the more desirable to own. I am so proud to have restored her so that this Cobra could live to fight another day. The Black Vinyl Bench Seat Interior is excellent. The car has it's original 2 spoke Steering wheel in it. The dash pad has a new cover on it and NEW carpet inside. The car was originally equipped with 14-inch steel wheels with Sports Wheel Covers; however, it now rolls on a NEW set of 15x7 Magnum 500 Wheels with brand NEW 265-50-15 Raised White Letter Radials. An incalculable amount of time and expense has gone into bringing this rare Musclecar back to life from its long hiatus from the street, but it has been well worth the effort. To see one of these Musclecar's put back on the road and have this modern day Dinosaur roam the streets once more is quite a sight and one that is not often seen today Overall this is a terrific original 1970 Torino Cobra with a GREAT running 429-4V 360HP Thunder Jet engine that is a solid driver!! This car certainly benefited from her cosmetic restoration. She is 49 years old. The professional restoration was done quite well; however, it is not a Rotisserie or a Barrett-Jackson. If it was I wouldn't be selling it on eBay and my reserve would be double my current asking price. Again, she has endured nearly 1/2 century since it rolled off the Atlanta Assembly line in August of 1969!! This car has a clean Ga. title and is currently insured in my name.
