Vehicle Details

This is a good running 1951 Ford Victoria with the Ford Flathead V8. Has a column shift 3 speed manual transmission.I am selling this for a friend and know the mechanical history of the car.The transmission has the overdrive option but the overdrive unit is not working. Some of the parts for the over drive are missing. The switch at the gas pedal and the wiring are missing. The transmission shifts good in all 3 gears and reverse. It does not grind when shifting. The car comes with a trunk full of parts and has a used parts transmission with the overdrive. I don't know the condition of the parts transmission but I think someone wanted the parts to get the overdrive working again.Clutch will chatter a little sometimes but does not slip.Very little oil leaks, small rear seal area leak. Some small transmission side cover leaking. No coolant leaks. The car drives good with some play in the steering box, but drives in a straight line going down the road. Engine has good power and starts right up after sitting for weeks. The starter is new.All of the spark plugs were removed and cylinder walls look good with very little pitting from age.The brake system was completely rebuild in the last 6 months.New wheel cylinders(front and rear),shoes, axle seals and new axle bearings.New brake hoses and master cylinder.Engine tuned and converted to electric ignition. (no points) The radiator was re-cored and and has new thermostats. The tires are new and were replace less then 6 months ago. Engine mounts are new and transmission drive shaft balanced/rebuilt.Steering has new tie rods and idler arm. The under side has little rus, some at trunk and the lower rocker panel was repaired before it was painted. The paint is OK, but has some chipping and a couple areas of flaking off. See pictures. Paint looks to be 10 years old or so. Some of the chrome has small pitting. The headliner is new. This is a 6 volt system and has the original radio, it does not power on. The dash temperature gauge does not work and has temperature gauges mounted below the dash. On a 80 degree day it runs 170 going down the road.Head lights, blinkers and brake lights work. The heater works and has a new blower motor. You can see more pictures at hookedonclassiccars.com/1951-victoria Speedometer shows 03855, I am sure it has rolled over once. Someone has installed dummy spot lights on both sides. In on of the pictures you can see a hole for the original spotlights on the inside. They do not light up. Feel free to ask me any questions .
