Description:
1985 Ford Mustang
I have up for sale my 1985 Mustang Coupe or Notchback. This car is an original 9L Oxford white, original 5.0 M code car.The car has been completely restored and resto-modded as a Pro Touring car. The original 5.0 is gone and has been replaced with an 04 4.6 DOHC, 4 valve supercharged "Terminator" motor with a T-56 6 speed trans that runs power through an aluminum Ford motorsport driveshaft to an 8.8 rear with 3:55 gears and traction lock.
The motor came from an 04 Cobra that only had about 58,000 miles. The current mileage is 62,000 The motor has had some light modifications performed. The cams were replaced with 96-98 Cobra cams which are actually better for boost than the original Terminator cams. A set of 80 lb/hr injectors were installed along with billet fuel rails. A 2.8" supercharger pulley was installed, along with a JLT cold air intake, and a custom tune. The exhaust consists of a set of Bassani mid length headers, a 2.5" Bassani off road H-pipe, through a set of Borla mufflers to 3" Cobra tail pipes. The motor made 529 RWHP.
The transmission is an 04 Cobra T-56 6 speed with an MGW shifter. The clutch is a Centerforce that shifts super smoothly. The power runs through an aluminum Ford Motorsport driveshaft to an 8.8 rear that has 3:55 Motorsport gears and a traction lock. The car is an absolute blast to drive based on the power and its light weight. The factory weight for an 85 Mustang Notchback is approximately 3000 lbs.
The entire suspension is new/aftermarket. In order to fit the Terminator motor into the Fox chassis, a Maximum Motorsports tubular K member was installed that has a set of tubular lower control arms along with a set of coil over front struts with Maximum Motorsports caster/camber plates. Maximum Motorsports weld in subframe connectors were installed and painted, and the rear suspension consists of Maximum Motorsports tubular upper and lower control arms with adjustable coil spring perches. This car handles like it's on rails.
The entire brake system has been upgraded starting with a 5 lug swap, 4 wheel disc brake conversion with 13" front Cobra disc brakes and calipers and 11" rear Cobra disc brakes and calipers. All the brake lines have been replaced with stainless steel lines. The brake system is powered by hydroboost and the car stops on a dime. The wheels are XXR 570's with 18x9" fronts with 245/40/18 tires. On the rear it has a set of 18x10.5 wheels with 275/140/18 tires. The rear 1/4's are rolled slightly to avoid any clearance issues. The car sits lowered over the wheels and the stance looks awesome.
The paint and body are in excellent condition. The car was stripped down to bare metal and straightened, smoothed, and repainted top and bottom in the original color of Oxford White. The paint looks fantastic and shines very nicely. This car is in fact driven and enjoyed so there will be a few minor rock chips but otherwise it looks fantastic. The only modification from stock on the exterior is the change from the standard LX front bumper cover to a GT cover with the foglight cutouts. There are a set of foglights installed. The wiring is there along with a foglight switch inside the car, but they don't work. I just leave the Marchal covers on and use my headlights, because the headlights are an aftermarket set of LED lights from a company called RMS lighting. They are SUPER bright and give a completely different view at night than the original headlights.
The interior is a mix of slightly modified and stock. The seats are stock but custom reupholstered. The factory Cobra gauge cluster was frenched into the dash and works well because of a custom wire harness from a company called wire diet. Because I don't always trust factory style gauges, I installed an aftermarket oil pressure and boost gauge into a custom panel in the factory floor console. If you wanted to return to the factory gauges in the dash, all you have to do is re-install the factory oil pressure switch (which I think I saved) and plug the vacuum hose into the back of the factory boost gauge. Probably about an hour of work.
There are almost too many additional modifications to list: the car has an aftermarket Bluetooth stereo, stainless braided fuel lines that run from the retrofit 04 Cobra fuel tank with dual pumps up to the motor, custom emergency brake cables, smoothed and painted firewall and inner fender wells, billet overflow and coolant tank, aluminum radiator with dual electric fans, Optima battery in a custom billet trunk mount, plus more. Please feel free to ask.
This car is a turn key, resto mod, that will go anywhere, as well as handle and stop like a new car. The motor has tons of power. Add that to the fact that the 85 Mustang Coupe weighs in at about 3000 bls and the car absolutely MOVES!!
4 eyed Foxbody Notchbacks are hard to come by and I've honestly never seen another one that has been Terminator swapped. This is an awesome car.
Ebay only allows 24 photos but I have many more and I am also willing to take additional photos of any area you may want to see. I have taken about 4-5 videos as well. I have a walk around video, a cold start video, as well as several driving videos. The car sounds awesome when you hear that supercharger whine! Please feel free to ask and I can either email or text any of the videos I have.
Please also feel free to ask any additional questions. The car is located at my home in Doylestown PA zip code 18901
