This original paint, unrestored 1958 Ford Fairlane Retractable Hardtop is powered by the factory installed, original 352ci Ford V8 engine backed by an automatic transmission. Features include factory power steering, manual brakes, manual windows, AM radio, vacuum wipers, and reverse lights. This black 1958 Ford Retractable Hardtop with black and white vinyl interior comes with a clear Missouri title in the seller's name.
The body is still wearing the factory applied black paint and is unrestored. Features include chrome front and rear bumpers, chrome grill, dual headlights with chrome bezels, fender ornaments, full length body side trim, working vacuum wipers, all original glass with Ford logos, correct Fairlane emblems, original dealer nameplate, quad taillights with chrome bezels and reverse lights. The original paint is decent overall for the age showing some surface rust spots and flaking on the hood and wear through spots on the fenders. The headlight caps have rust through and the header panel has some damage. The bottoms of both fenders, doors and rockers are rust free, which is very rare to find on these. The 1/4 panels do not have rust in the front or rear of the wheel wells which is very rare as well. There is flaking paint on the rear top lid and 1/4 panel taillight end caps. The rear body is rust free and is still wearing the original selling dealer's nameplate. All four original taillights and reverse light lenses are present and undamaged. All of the original trim and chrome is bright and does not show collision or age damage.
The front wheels have been replaced with 15' chrome reversed style and the rear wheels are 14" original steel wheels. They are wearing 60's era Ford dog dish hubcaps.
The front bench seat and matching rear seat are upholstered in black and white vinyl with matching rear trim and door panels. Features include intact original white pinhole vinyl headliner, original AM radio, power steering, manual brakes, manual windows and all original Autolite glass showing no cracks. The heater blower motor is working on low speed only, and the vacuum wipers work. The top does not function currently but the initial relay clicks when the switch is activated. The current owner has chosen not to repair the top at this time and will leave that to the purchaser. The original carpet has been removed and there are rust holes in the rear seat foot well. The front footwell and firewall are rust free. The doors and rockers do not show signs of rust through. All of the interior is original, complete, and unrestored.
The gauges consist of a working 120-mph speedometer, working gas gauge, and working coolant temperature gauge. The odometer shows 98,294 miles. Vintage gas station service stickers located in the driver's door jamb and show the mileage at 72,287 on 9/8/1966. A Missouri state inspection sticker shows last license was in 05/1990. This Fairlane has been driven only 26k miles from 1966-1990. It was parked in 1990 and not driven until it was revived in 2022.
This 1958 Ford Fairlane Retractable Hardtop is powered by the original 352ci Ford V8 engine backed by an automatic transmission. Features include factory power steering, original valve covers and intake, and a chrome aftermarket open element air filter. The engine runs, and the car will lot drive and shift through the gears using the emergency brake. The original manual drum brake system is dry and will need to be serviced to operate properly. All suspension, chassis, and floors are original and unrestored. The water pump bearing is loose and will need replacement. Below is a list of repairs completed in 2022.

1958 Ford Skyliner Repairs Performed By The Seller

2/15/2022-Pick up vehicleand bringto shop. Transfer to wheel

dollies. Soak all parts with penetrant.

2/16/2022-Break frozen rear wheels/brakes free.

2/18/2022- Remove sparkplugs. Inspect cylinder bore with

endoscope. Fill cylinders with penetrating oil.

2/19/2022-Break free frozen engine. Make new battery cables.

Clean and install sparkplugs. Clean, file ignition points. Make

temporary repairsto carburetor. Change motor oil and filter. Remove

and clean sediment bowl on fuel pump. Pick up and install battery.

Clean and weld broken transmission dip stick. Remove ignition switch from

dash and remove lock cylinder, reinstall ignitionswitch in dash. Free

frozen drains on fuel tanks and drain old fuel. Free up, remove and

clean all brake bleeder valves.

2/20/2022Remove and clean fuel pump sediment bowl.

Grease all fittings on chassis.

Make new fuel feed line from pump to carburetor.

Service power steering pump.

Remove front sway bar.

Test cycle transmission and top off ATF.

Fill radiator with water to check system.

2/22/2022 Remove carburetor and rebuild. Install and adjust.

2/27/2022 Remove master cylinder, clean and test. Master cylinder is working,

but wheel cylinders are all frozen. Free frozen emergency brake cables. Drain water

from radiator and fill with antifreeze.
