Item location: Waynesville, North Carolina, United States
Description:
1967 Ford F-100
Wednesday, September 4th, 2019, another beautiful day in Western North Carolina and I took my 1967 Ford up the Blue Ridge Parkway to snap a few photos for this listing, for what might be my last time enjoying this beauty... We'll see...THE STUFF...
Just for fun, opening bid is $7691 - Far below what I think this truck is worth. This isn't your average 1967 F100 Truck. It is a Rare Option Find. For starters, this is a SURVIVOR Truck with 94260 original miles. Original paint with some crazy patina, engine, transmission etc. It's a "Plain Jane" - No-Nonsense - Mans Truck... Manual brakes and manual steering, NO badges, NO emblems, NO trim, etc. and heavy duty rear leaf springs. Add to that the Borg Wagner T18 Sync Transmission and 3:50 rear end and you'll be hard pressed to find another in this condition. This is the same transmission used in 3/4 Ton and 1 Ton Trucks at the time. It's a Top Loaded, Top Shifted 4 speed with Granny Gear low. You want torque..? You got it! And with the Ford 3:50 rear axle gears, this truck will get it at 75-80 MPH if you feel the need for speed...
THE STORY...
Looking at the VIN and the original Owners Manual, this Ford was built in California and sold on February 24, 1967 at the William "Bill" Goodro Dealership in Denver, Colorado to a gentleman from Broomfield, Colorado along Route 6. From there the truck went to Santa Fe, New Mexico where it was enjoyed and cared for through many years. Eventually, the truck was inherited by the original owners grandson who later relocated to Greenville, South Carolina a few years ago. I had the opportunity to buy it when he decided to move back to New Mexico, but it wasn't that simple... He changed his mind about selling it, so I moved on. A couple of months later I see the truck for sale again and I was all over it. He told me that he had done the same thing to 2 other buyers that were on their way to see it. Called them back and said he couldn't sell his "Papa's Truck", but days away from moving back to New Mexico, he told me he didn't want to pay again to have it shipped back. I consider myself lucky that I was actually able to buy it..!
THE TRUCK...
Having been roofed or enclosed when parked, the truck is pretty well preserved. I guess this is what they call a "Dry Truck" but it does have a little rust in the bottom rear corner of both doors, the ends on the braces under the cab, a spot on the left inner fender and core support and it looks to be starting on the front cab mounts. Reading this, it sounds worse than it actually is. I have sprayed these areas with OSPHO (Acid) to prevent the spread of the rust. The top section (above the bump) of the passenger door and passenger bedside were repainted a long time ago. Factory original paint on the rest of the body. The paint on the underside of the hood and the firewall looks really good too.
Mechanically, it does what its supposed to do. Starts up easily (Manual Choke), runs, drives, shifts steers, stops on command. All of the lights are working, including the back up lights and the gauge lights. Doors and tailgate close tight and windows roll up and down smoothly. Door seals, rubbers, felts are in great shape. Horn does not work. Original radio comes on but speaker is bad. Door locks operate smoothly. Tires and brakes are in great shape.
The original bench seat (has the build sheet in the springs) was removed and stored. Replaced with bucket seats which are period correct and installed on factory reproduction brackets. With the floor shifter I couldn't help myself, plus the bench seat upholstery had seen better days. The seat core is good and included with the truck.
I absolutely Love this truck but I found something I Love more... Can't keep them all..! I'll let the photos tell the rest of the story. Serious buyers, ask questions... I respond promptly.
