1949 Ford chopped patina coupe 8BA rebuilt orig. flathead 0 miles, Florida car!
1949 Ford Custom 2 door
1949 Ford Custom 2 Door Coupe for sale built by Impressive Rides out of Clearwater Florida. I bought this car from its long time owner a decade ago, I have sent it out to be fully restored a couple years ago and had to stop, the build got way over budget! Theysent the original flathead to N.C. for a total rebuild, only the best parts were used, bored 0.50 over, 1950 stainless Mercury crankshaft, Offenhauser alloy heads, copper gaskets, Isky 3/4 race cam, electronic distributor, dual alloy waterpumps, new alternator, rebuilt orig. Stromberg Big 97 carbs, aluminum manifold, custom stainless shorty headers, 0 miles on the engine and already completely wired thanks to Ron Francis, should be around double the factory horsepower. New floors, new 12 volt wiring, all the lights are new and working! Trunk was restored and the entire undercarriage was painted using POR15 flat black paint, body was taken off the frame last year and all new rubber body mounts and the frame was primed, painted! New powder coated driveshaft and new metal fuel tank mounted under the trunk like it was originally. Brand new 9 inch rear end built just for this car with 3.55 gears. New sub-frame welded in and perfectly aligned. 4 wheel disc brakes, new powder coated black 15" wheels and new white wall radials. The transmission is a newer modern automatic and we had it professionally adapted to the flathead, will shift perfectly once the engine is fired. New custom driveshaft tunnel so that the car can sit as low as you want to take it to. The entire car was media blasted to bare metal, sprayed in epoxy sealer and then distressed on purpose, to paint the car gloss black the cheapest estimate was $24k, so rather than doing that, the entire car is in a satin green under satin black patina, looks really good in person, photos do not do this car justice! The hood was reshaped using all lead and metal, there is NO bondo on the vehicle, pretty much unheard of now a days. I just bolted on the rear bumper and had it re-chromed, I do not have the front bumper, but they are available from time to time on eBay for around $300 ready to go. I do not have a grille, was going to make my own out of brushed stainless, leaving that up to the new owner. The allow radiator is new and so is the electric cooling fan. The hood has 180 hand cut louvers which really give the car a sinister look. The top was chopped around 3" front and back, welded back and I was in the process of doing a patina vinyl roof, but never did. The orig. dash is completely wired, NOS gauges and clock, painted gloss black with white pin striping by hand, steering wheel was also restored to match the dash. The shifter is a 23" Lokar in special order powder coated black and mounted to the transmission. It has only the front bench seat, never had the rear benchand was going to carpet and not use a backseat, the front bench seat is out of my 71' Cuda and fits the 49' perfectly.
For the car to run and drive, it needs a steering U-Joint which is about $80. It needs an exhaust system built, best estimate was $280 and I already have new stainless glass packs! Lower radiator hoses approx. $30. Glass cut which should be around $100 per piece, it would be best to find an original 49' back glass and have the glassshop cut it down to fit this exact car. The dual carbs need a kick down kit that hooks up to the gas pedal, brake pedal bolted on and fuel and brake lines, these are all little things any mechanic could do.The price of the car has been reduced from $13,900 down to $9,500 this week. All the hard and costly work has been professionally completed, now the new owner can put their personal touches to finish it. This is a rare opportunity to buy a well built car that is 90% finished for a very reasonable price.
The rebuilt flathead was almost $8,500 with the accessories!
Ron Francis wiring was $300 plus $2,550 labor!
The new metal floors, trunk, firewall and sub-frame cost $6,200 plus parts!
