1949, 50', 51' Ford Custom chopped coupe rebuilt flathead Florida car street rod
1949 Ford Custom
1949 Ford Custom Coupe! Chopped 3" then was sandblasted to bare steel, primed in epoxy sealer, then a satin green base and satin black to give the body a vintage patina look, all steel no bondo. New custom made driveshaft tunnel that has been completely welded top and underneath for a complete seal. This was being built by Impressive Rides, one of the top 10 shops in the country, they built a Ridler custom that sold for$1.2 million dollars! So this 49' Ford was in great hands forover 2 years at their shop. When this project began, we only purchased the body and flathead block, this has been a 6 year on and off build and very close to being road worthy. It has a new Ron Francis 12 volt wiring harness professionally installed, just the wiring install was $2,800, very high quality. Just completed a 1952 Ford gas door on the driver side that is fully tig welded in and looks better than factory. The flathead was sent to N.C. for a total rebuild using only the best parts, every gasket is copper, alloy heads, ported and polished valves, bored 0.50 over, 1950 Mercury stainless polished crank, dual Stromberg vintage carbs rebuilt, new offenhouseraluminum manifold, NOS oil pan, mini starter, dual waterpumps, 12 volt alternator, engine is totally wired with spark, electronic distributor and ignition box, 0 miles. The sub-frame came out of a 90's Mustang. All the lights work, new Ididit steering column painted black and has tilt. New metal original style gas tank mounted underneath the trunk and powder coated silver. All new metal floors, trunk was also restored and then the entire car was undercoated using Por-15. Viper style thru-body exhaust outlets using tig welded stainless. Just installed a 3 speed automatic transmission and a new black powder coated custom driveshaft. New firewall welded in and painted satin black, 4 wheel disc brakes, painted the original dash gloss black with white pin stripes, NOS gauges and clock just wired, looks beautiful, restored the orig. steering wheel! New dropped spindles and 2" lowering blocks in the rear. New 8.8 rear end with 3.55 gears custom built just for this car. At one time this was going to be a SEMA show patina street rod to show off the hot rod shops work, but the owner got sick and the car has not been finished, I'd say its 90% to the point where it can be driven. The nice thing about the car is, you can put your personal touches on it and do certain things your way. The hood has gone though countless hours of metal work, over 180 louvers. All the lights are new, re-chromed rear bumper, no front bumper, radial white wall tires, new steel 15" powder coated wheels, allow radiator with electric cooling fans, custom headers, the bench seat came out of my 71' Cuda, new 23" black floor shifter, there is too much to list it all. Come take a look in person to really appreciate the quality of work and money that has gone into this car! The engine rebuildand carbscame to almost $8k alone!! For what I am asking for the entire vehicle I have more into just the flathead, transmission and tires! Needs glass cut next. Over $20k invested and that does NOT include the price of what the car cost, that's only labor and parts! If you put a couple thousand more into it, like a custom grill, glass and get it running, you could easily have a $25k+ street rod! I am only the cars 2nd owner and it comes with the original 49' license plate it was issued back in 1949.
Not seen snow or ice, Florida car, must see in person to really appreciate. Listing it locally for sale this week. With the 0 mile rebuilt flathead 8BA engine, stainless glass packs and custom powder coated headers, this 49' Ford is going to sound amazing and be daily driver reliable with a new modern 3 speed automatic already adapted and hooked up ready to go! Always in an air conditioned garage, very solid car and has never had rust.
To be a running and driving car all that is needed is:
Brake lines
Gas and brake pedal installed (comes included)
exhaust (comes with stainless steel glass packs)
carb. linkage
lower radiator hose
fuel line

I have seen unrestored non running cars full of rust bring $7k here in Florida that need one of everything! This one is almost completed for very little money, you wont find a better example built to VERY high standards anywhere for this price! Go buy one for $6k to $8k and see what it ends up costing to restore!!! Just the chopped top alone on this car was "thousands" I am 6' 1" and the chop top is easy to get in and out of the car with, if you are over 6' 3" it could be an issue.
