This incredible "Vicky" hales out of the state of California where it's had extensive professional work to turn it into the fine driving restomod you see before you!
Finished in Coral with a contrasting gray roof, the car's paint and trim are in overall great condition. This Victoria's bodywork is straight and solid while its engine bay is extremely tidy and the battery is very good order. The cargo area is in good, original condition and it has the car's original wheels, wheel covers and an alternate set of tires. The car has driver and passenger side spotlights and its chrome bumpers look great, too.
Rolling on Falken ProTouring radials, size 215/70R15 at all four corners. Each tire is mounted to a newer five-spoke alloy wheel. The wheels are in excellent order while the tires are in very good shape.
Under the hood is a Chevy Performance 350 CID small-block Chevrolet V-8 motor with dual exhausts. Backing it is a four-speed automatic transmission. Other alternations include independent front suspension from a Ford Mustang II. Driver convenience features include vintage air-conditioning and power rack-and-pinion steering.
The car's beige bench seats are in overall great condition, as does the carpet, the ribbed headliner and the two-spoke steering column. Newer parts include a Dakota digital dashboard and a chrome Ididit steering column. Overall, the instrument panel and inner door panels are in very good order. Completing the interior is an Alpine AM/FM stereo with CD player below the original factory AM radio.
The 1951 Fords featured an optional Ford-O-Matic automatic transmission for the first time. Ford finally answered the Chevrolet Bel Air and Plymouth Belvedere charge with the Victoria hardtop in 1951, borrowing the term from the victoria carriage. The car was an instant hit, outselling the Chevrolet by nearly 10 percent. The Crestliner continued for one more year, however.
The pillarless superstructure was styled by Gordon M. Buehrig, of Auburn-Cord-Duesenberg fame, who had come to Dearborn after leaving the Loewy team at Studebaker. All 1951 Fords sported a new "dual-bullet" grille and heavy chrome bumpers. This year Ford also added a new "turn-key" ignition. Front suspension is independent coil springs.
Documentation includes original owner's manual and extensive documents on the vehicle; receipts, invoices and more.
Competition to this Victoria in 1951 included Chevy's Bel-Air, Dodge's Coronet, Hudson's Hornet, Kaiser's Deluxe Club Coupe, Mercury's Sport Coupe, Nash's Ambassador Custom Club Coupe, Oldsmobile's 98 and Pontiac's Chieftain.
