1968 FORD F100 RANGER LOW MILEAGE SURVIVOR SHORT BED TRUCK FROM DRY TEXAS! 360 V8 engine!!! 82k original miles!!!
Just got this amazing, dry, two-owner truck from the estate of the man near Dallas, Texas who owned it since 1969! It was a 12 month old Texas truck when he bought it from the original owner. I purchased it from the car guru that bought it from the old man's estate. I had been looking FOREVER for a dry, unmolested short bed truck with nice, original patina. This truck has that "to die for" sun baked patina that only cars from the Southwest seem to have.
The truck is about 80% original paint, FYI. You can see some areas that have been painted over the years, but the majority of the truck retains it's original paint. Also, the interior (other than the new seat covers I installed) is 100% original. Dash has cracks on it, but it is in keeping with the patina vibe of the truck, so I love it! (But LMC sells replacement dash kits, or Ebay you can source original ones). The red carpet is original and always protected. There is a clear plastic floor mat that appears to have been there since 1968! So old school! Love it! Headliner is gone, that's an item I had planned to source and install---LMC truck as replacement materials. All of the chrome trim pieces are intact on the interior ceiling.
I had my mechanic do a bunch of work, including but not limited to... replacing the cracked front windshield, repairing the passenger side window winder (entire new winder device installed....$$$) as well as new brakes, tune and fluid service, new hoses as needed, all new shocks, and also had the steering column removed and rebuilt all the steering linkage so it shifts like butter----old school 3-on-the-three! Also, had LMC truck original style seat upholstery and new foam installed so the seats look and feel like new! And even more items looked after! All told, I invested over 5k in repair items!
It still could use a set of new tires (tread is fine, tires are just older) but this old fella has lots of life left in him! He hums along beautifully and tracks straight as an arrow---let go of the wheel and he drives straight ahead, no pulling to the right or left! And quiet, smooth ride. Will do 75 mph and more on the freeway. He was used mainly as a hunting and fishing rig, as well as light chores/work on the ranch. Over all the years---51 to be exact---the truck has only had a little over 82,000 miles put on him!
Truck is dead straight and all of the chrome trim is still there---which is amazing! This is NOT a trailer queen, it is a low owner, low mileage truck that has been loved and cared for...but it's definitely been out on the trail! I LOVE all of the old NRA and gun decals still on the rear windshield! Too cool! (See the pics of the decals!)
The driver-side door appears to have been replaced, as there are signs of blue paint showing under the black paint, and if you look closely at the photos, the chrome exterior trim is just a tad lower than it should be. Super minor, but I am pointing it out.
Another neat item is the pink slip/title itself: completely original 1969 title and even the envelope is from 1969 (see pics!)
My plan was to replace the tires and get a nice matt-finish clear coat on it to protect the "perfect patina" of this ride, and then use it as my main surf truck here in North County, San Diego. However, as a long time car collector (I have a number of cool, amazing old cars) a sudden chance to own a survivor VW Single Cab came up right as I got this truck. I am a long time VW fanatic, and I could not miss the chance to own the Single Cab of my dreams---and it will cost a LOT more than this truck! So I need to raise some $$$ fast!!!
So...."Ol' Blackie" as I affectionately named this old boy, is ready for a quick, hassle-free sale. I am asking less than I have into the truck to make a deal happen swiftly! If you know these old Ford trucks, you'll know that the SHORT BED trucks are the ones to own! This would also make a great base for a full on restoration...but I love it just as it is...patina and all. Patina is a very popular aspect of old trucks and cars these days, and this one truly has the most amazing patina you could hope for!
Haggerty values list a "good" 1968 Ford Ranger F100 with a 360 engine at $13,300.00 Given the low miles and low ownership and dry, straight body, original handbook and title, etc. I would say this is still a low value figure on this truck....just look at the prices on Ebay or Craigslist and you'll agree.

#3 vehicles could possess some, but not all of the issues of a #4 vehicle, but they will be balanced by other factors such as a fresh paint job or a new, correct interior where applicable. #3 vehicles drive and run well, but might have some incorrect parts. These vehicles are not used for daily transportation but are ready for a long tour without excuses, and the casual passerby will not find any visual flaws. "Good" is the one word description of a #3 vehicle.

I am ready to move on this truck...so give me a ring/text at 808.557.0132 **Price is firm, I am losing $$$ as it is, so please no lowballs---be respectful. Also, NO TRADES...I will not trade this truck for your vintage lawnmower or your Mother-in-Law!!!
