Description:

1928 Ford Model A Convertible Pickup

I am offering for sale, my 1928 Model A, Roadster - 'Convertible' Pickup. Starts right up, idles nicely, smooth running down the road. Driven very little, plugs new and gas replaced annually. Points look good. This truck had a full frame off restoration 10 years ago by the previous owner; and has been garaged kept since. I redid the bed with kiln dried oak this past winter, priming and painting the original metal slats (with urethane enamel primer and paint)replacing all bed bolts with stainless, but have kept originals. Mileage reads 91,900. I purchased this truck from a gentleman from Germany who had it shipped back here to the U.S. He owned it for 15+ years before selling it to me, and also rarely drove it (I have been too busy to really enjoy it - driven it less than 50 miles since owning it for past 5 years). It starts up perfectly and looks great with some minor imperfections in the lacquer paint. Drives and accelerates smoothly, with no vibration or other issues. Gas tank clean and fuel lines have dual fuel filters to ensure clean fuel at all times to engine.. Engine was rebuilt when it restored and engine upgraded to a 1930 engine, with a more peppy Zenith dual jet carb (Zenith B), used on the later Model A's and B's. Has few hundred miles or less on it. Idles nicely - even at a very low idle speeds (see videos where idle is just a few hundred RPMs), ....indicating great compression. The truck's undercarriage is clean and appears to have little wear use (see pics). The convertible top was replaced when it was restored, looks great - ...but but has had a few repairs as it is easy to 'catch' the material in the folding frame ....if not careful. I did this once and the previous owner also did it as well, but it is repaired and overall, great shape. Tires all good and I have a spare hub, not mounted.
Don't know the early history of this truck except that it appears to always have been garaged, and spent part of its earlier life in Germany. Body manufactured in San Francisco and is was the 213th made. See Pics ...Also, I have uploaded a YouTube video of it running. See the video here. Video shows a short drive and then a brief 'rev' of the engine to show that there is no missing or hesitation. Lights, horn, gas gauge, dash light, etc. - all controls work as they should. Gas has been drained yearly for past 5 years and refilled with non-ethanol gas using lead additive. (If you are not familiar with these engines, lead additive is needed, to prevent valve or valve seat burning. It is not expensive and is readily available at most auto stores).
Also included - wood side panels for the bed (not currently attached, but in great shape). This truck is a lot of fun and a head turner, with the most classic green and black colors. I am only selling it as I have 2 kids entering college and need to raise funds, and rarely have time to enjoy it.
Feel free to ask any questions.
Finally please do not bid --unless you are serious about owning this Model A Pickup - as this is a no reserve auction and will be sold to the highest bidder. It is a hassle to list an item only to have the 'buyer' disappear after they have 'bought' it. Thanks for understanding
Thanks for looking and good luck bidding.
