Description:
1972 Ford Mustang Mach 1 R-Code H.O.
Up for sale is my 1972 Mustang Mach 1 with the 351 H.O. engine, 4 speed manual transmission, and factory 3.91 gears. This is a very original car with just over 52,000 miles and mostly original paint. The car is a well-optioned Mach 1 coming originally with the 8-Track stereo, tilt steering column, rear window defrost, fold down rear seat, deluxe interior, and Magnum 500 wheels. The stereo has been replaced at some point with an era-correct Realistic AM/FM 8-Track stereo with matching equalizer. The original steering wheel has been replaced with a surprisingly nice to use Grant wheel.Model background: The H.O. engine option for 1972 was the continuation of the 1971 Boss 351, with very minor changes. Ford made 336 H.O. Mustangs in '72 and they all came with no A/C, with the 4 speed transmission, 3.91 rear gears, dual point distributor and more.

Although the car is very original, some components have been replaced through the years. The Autolite carb and factory intake have been replaced with an Edelbrock intake and Holley carburetor. The original air cleaner is gone, but I've recently found one that is close to correct. The solid lifters have been replaced with hydraulic. And of course, the rev limiter is long gone. Otherwise this Mach 1 is a real time capsule.
The original paint is in good condition, but not perfect. At one time something was spilled on the roof and it lightly stained the paint. The argent lower trim paint has been repainted at some point. There are dings and scrapes you would expect in a used car. Someone expressed their artistic talent under the hood with red paint. Many of the components in the engine bay have been painted, but at least the hard to find items are still there. The car would benefit from a light underhood restoration.
Please send any questions you have my way and I'll do my best to answer them.
Thanks!
