THIS IS A 1966 MUSTANG FASTBACK WITH THE VIN 6R09A MEANING A 1966 BUILT CAR, FACTORY FASTBACK, AND A 289 4V CAR. IT CAME FACTORY WITH A AUTO TRANS. AND WAS BUILT IN SAN JOSE CALIFORNIA, THE SAME PLANT THE 1965-1967 SHELBY CARS BUILT AT.
CAR WAS MODIFIED WITH THE MAIER RACING PACKAGE IN THE LATE 80'S TO INCLUDE FENDER FLARES, HOOD SCOOP, SIDE AIR SCOOPS, REAR SPOILER.AND SIDE WINDOWS. THE 1966 SHELBY HAD SOME OF THESE MODS. THE MAIER RACING PACKAGE LIKE THIS IS ABOUT 14K TODAY, AND THEN YOU WILL NEED TO HAVE IT INSTALLED. OR DO IT YOURSELF. THE FENDER FLARES ARE NOT JUST MOLDED TO THE CAR, IT INVOLVES THE INNER PANELS AS WELL. AND IS DIFFICULT TO INSTALL THE RIGHT WAY. AND ONCE DONE IT ALLOWS FOR LARGER TIRES AND WHEELS. THIS CAR HAS THE AMERICAN RACING TORQUE THRUST WHEELS. REAR 15X10 AND FRONT IS 15X8.5 AND YOU COULD GO EVEN LARGER IF YOU WANT. THE TIRES ON THE CAR ARE B.F.GOODRICH COMP TA'S REAR IS 265/50/VR15 AND FRONT 245/50/VR15 A 17" OR 18" RIM CAN BE USED USING THESE FLARES. I WILL DEDUCT $1000 FROM THE PURCHASE PRICE IF YOU DO NOT WANT THESE WHEELS AND TIRES.
THE INTERIOR IS PRESENTABLE, IN THE CURRENT STATE. WOULD NOT TAKE MUCH TO REDO A MUSTANG INTERIOR. THE GLOVE BOX DOOR WAS SIGNED BY CARROLL SHELBY IN ABOUT 2001 AT A CAR SHOW IN LAS VEGAS.
THE ENGINE IN THE CAR IS A 289 2V. IN THE PAST I HAD A 351W IN IT. THE 351W WENT OUT YEARS AGO, I PUT A 289 IN IT TO MAKE IT MOVABLE AND HAVE NOT DRIVEN IT IN YEARS. I WILL INCLUDE THE 351W IF YOU WANT A BUILDER ENGINE. IRON BLOCK AND HEADS, LONG TUBE HEADERS. STANDARD PARTS FOR A 351W THE TRANS IS A C4 WITH A SHIFT KIT THAT IS IN GREAT SHAPE.
FLOOR PANS AND TRUNK ARE GOOD, ENGINE COMPARTMENT HAS NO RUST IN ROCKERS, QUARTERS ARE GOOD, ROOF IS LASER STRAIGHT, THE ONLY SMALL ISSUE IS THE SMALL CRACKS AROUND THE BODY MODS. I HAVE DONE BODY WORK BEFORE AND THIS IS A EASY FIX. OR YOU CAN JUST DRIVE NOW AND ENJOY.
THIS CAR GETS A LOT OF LOOKS, AS THE FLARES AND MODS REALLY MAKE THE CAR STAND OUT. IF YOU PURCHASE THE CAR AS A BUILDER, THEN THIS IS A GREAT START. THERE IS A FASTBACK NOW ON EBAY FOR 70K LOOK AT EBAY ITEM NUNBER 182 350 521 541 AND THIS CAR DOES NOT HAVE THE REAR SPOILER, A EXPENSIVE PART !
