1971 Torino GT convertible with factory matching # 429 Cobra Jet engine, 6 automatic transmission and 3.25 31 spline nodular case axle. Loaded with factory options such as; bucket seats, onsole, ower windows, ower top, M/FM, ower steering, ower disc brakes, aser stripes, lock and tinted glass. There were only 30 big block convertibles built in 1971 and they were all C code non ram air 429 Cobra Jet cars, 9 of them were automatics. It is still in the factory colors of White paint with a white top and a Vermillion knit vinyl interior. This car shows just over 48k miles and it is reported to be the original miles but I don't have documentation to prove it. By the looks of it I would say it is certainly possible. Comes with original window sticker, ill of sale, wner card, anuals etc. The story is that this car was originally purchased so the owner could follow the NASCAR circuit, nd what a car to do that in! This is a very clean and unmolested example with mostly original parts. Needs nothing to drive and enjoy. You would most certainly be the only one at a cruise night or show. When was the last time you saw one anywhere, uch less for sale?
The body is very nice with no visible rust, ents or dings. There is no evidence of previous rust or accident damage. The paint is about 10 years old but presents very well and has been driven fairly little. No chips or scratches evident in the paint. Chrome is excellent as is the trim. GT rocker panels are present and are in very nice condition. Glass, ncluding the windshield is original and in good condition. Top is in good condition and has a glass rear window. Laser stripes look very nice, lthough there is one nick that is not very noticeable. Rear valance has some cracks in the paint that aren't too noticeable. I've been meaning to have it repainted but nobody but me ever notices it. Magnums are reproductions and are in excellent condition. BF Goodrich tires are like new. Right side of trunk floor has what looks like some extra seam sealer or filler around the drain hole that is probably covering some pitting or pin holes, ut nothing major. I can’t imagine this car ever saw snow, owever it was undercoated from the factory and the 2ndowner who had the car painted added more. I have removed some in various spots looking for rust and have not found any. To bring this car to the next level I would remove the undercoating but is it certainly not necessary.
The interior is Medium Vermillion knit vinyl and it looks fantastic with the white exterior when the top is down. Something a little different than your typical black or white. Seats, ash, oor panels, arpet, tc are all in very nice condition. The console is very nice as is the chrome around the gauges.
The 429 Cobra Jet engine is the original matching # engine and retains its original Qjet carb, xhaust manifolds, xhaust manifold heat riser, ir cleaner, alve covers, an shroud, tc. It starts right up and runs good with no smoke, nocks or noise. Transmission works well with crisp, mooth shifts. It does not have the cast iron tailshaft as most 71 CJ cars don’t but it also appears to not have an R servo as well. Still has the original Nodular case rearend with 31 spline axles. Steering is tight and suspension is solid. Car runs and drives very nicely. Lights, ignals, auges, ower top, ipers, orn and heater work. Power windows work properly. Factory AM/FM is not working. Has nice sounding 2 1/2" exhaust that has a nice rumble but is not too loud. Overall this car is very nice example that is ready to drive and enjoy. I would probably rate it somewhere between a show car and a driver. Certainly not concourse but nicer that most driver musclecars you see. Could use a little detailing but that is to be expected for a car that has been driven some.
This is a rare opportunity to get yourself a well optioned and desirable 71 Torino GT convertible 429CJ. An investment quality vehicle that you can actually drive and enjoy and even if you put some miles on it will continue to increase in value. When they come up for sale, hese cars have sold for 6 figures and you can get this for well under that. Look at the pics, atch the video and judge for yourself. Please don’t be afraid to ask questions if you are a serious bidder. I bought this car with the intention of keeping it as I am somewhat of a Torino and Mustang collector. My plan was to add a flat hood, nstall a shaker and do the Cobra hood blackout treatment. However, hen I went to sell my other Torino convertible, hich we have had for several years and drive often in the summer, discovered that my family was much more attached to it than I realized. One of converts has to go so I’ll try and sell this one first.
Car is sold as is where is with no warranty expressed or implied. It is available for inspection by appointment only. I have done my best to describe it accurately but please understand that this is a 45 year old vehicle that, hile very nice, s a not brand new nor is it perfect in every way. I have sold quite a few cars on ebay and try very hard to describe them accurately and to make sure potential buyers have any information I would want as a buyer. International buyers are welcome. In fairness to all bidders I will not disclose the reserve. I reserve the right to end the auction early, owever, y intention is to let the auction run its course unless someone hits the buy-it-now. Payment must clear before vehicle can be picked up. Shipping arrangements and expenses are the responsibility of buyer.
