1979 Dodge Power wagon W200, auto, LA360, dual tank option, 4" lift, 35" tires
1979 Dodge Power Wagon
1979 Dodge Power Wagon W200 with 4-inch lift, 727 auto/NP203, rare dual tank option, 8-foot bed, newer tires, with Holley EFI 2300 (2bbl), stereo, stock AM radio with working center dash speaker, heater, power steering, Holley 25 gal fuel tank, 255 lph in tank fuel pump, and aftermarket 4bbl aluminum intake manifold.I intended to make this a reliable 90's style adventure rig, but relationship/housing status changed over the holidays, so here we are. I need all of this gone, so may as well have some fun with it. Truck comes with old Holley 4-bbl double pumper carb, old but serviceable fuel tanks, old distributor and engine wiring harness intact (still attached in the engine bay). The Holley EFI system is a plug and play upgrade but is only TEST FITTED in the photos. Buyer has the option to return to carb or keep going with the EFI upgrade. New EFI is not permanently attached.Truck is solid, and super fun to drive. I was in the middle of tear down, disassembly, inspection before my life situation changed.
Body - seems to have been some sort of fleet truck. Mounting holes down each side of the pickup; one dent in driver front fender; 1 dent in passenger rear bumper. Floor pans have surface rust and has not yet migrated through the entirety of the metal. Light sanding and further inspection required but I had no issues while driving it from Aug to Dec 2023. I pulled the floor mat and trashed it. Cab leaks water down the door seals and into the floor area. Rust was hidden from previous owner under the floor matting. Driver doors opens and closes with ease; passenger door takes a small amount of muscle to close from full open. Closes in the jam just fine. Rear, passenger side fender is missing the support brace; requires new fender brace.
All body lines seem to be straight (one of the main selling points when I got this truck).Radiator - flawlessEngine - runs great on the carb; yet to be seen with EFI hooked up. Recommend tear down, inspection, possible rebuild. Comes with the aluminum Assault intake, EFI, carb, Holley air filter. REQUIRES temp sending unit flange/bung if using the Holley unit.Transmission - 3 speed, with kick down - functioning, but has a weird "stall" anomaly when cold, at full stops, revving the engine to get it to drop into gear. Anomaly goes away after warm up; intermittent. Recommend rebuild. Comes with 2 new rear trans anchor bushings and a new U-joint for the front drive shaft.Transfer case - it's there and have no idea the status. Never used it in 4 months. Recommend tear down and inspection. Leaks like crazy at the rear seal. If unfamiliar with np203, it is a full-time system.Brakes - flawlessSteering - needs improvement and pump hose is leaking; recommend upgrade replacement.Axles - 4.10 final drive ratio; front and rear work smooth but have leaks; requires new cover gaskets and inspection.Ignition - stock ignition system was garbage; comes with Holley EFI components, everything needed. If returning to carb, recommend new distributor, coil, wires, etc. WARNING - EFI distributor is not clocked to the #1 cylinder at TDC. It is only temp installed to keep debris out.Wiring - Everything worksHeater - flawless (no A/C)Fuel - stock single fuel line still intact; comes with supply and return hoses for the EFI upgrade. Fuel tanks are in great shape but both tanks will require new sending units and pickups if going back to carb. If keeping the Holley tank, comes with straps but haven't had time to properly bend/size the straps. Front of Holley tank will require a flat brace between top of tank and frame of truck so the tank sits level (tank was designed for 80's pickup). The tank is baffled and designed to be used off-road with brief periods of pitch (incline/decline).Windshield wipers - only the driver side worksExhaust - shady; previous owners used a combination of pipe sizes and it is most annoying; requires new exhaust that does not bump the t-case. But the exhaust is surprisingly quiet, comes with catalytic converters and O2 sensor for the EFI (installed).Wheels and tires are flawless and roll smooth at 65-70 mph (315/70R17, 34.4" tall, with spare in the bed).
Donor truck - '92 with TBI 360, NV4500, np241, axles, and 30 gal fuel tank. Bell housing was destroyed by previous owner. Body and interior are trashed. Frame is ok and the homemade bed is shady. If keeping the fuel tank, will require new fuel pump assembly. Radiator and A/C compressor were both good when I began to tear down, then aborted the 5-speed swap. All of it comes with purchase of the '79 at no extra charge.
Buyer has option to pick up or I can assist with delivery. My delivery price will be $800 flat rate to the lower 48. Canada and Alaska buyers: contact me with questions and solutions. I am retired Air Force located in Albuquerque and this is my only job in life over the next 7-10 days, or until truck is delivered/picked up. Will not deliver without payment. I will send daily GPS updates if I deliver to buyer. Prefer pickup but contact me with questions and additional photos. I may even have an old cell video of it running back in Nov/Dec. My only goal is to vacate this property and set bidder's minds at ease and answer all questions publicly for bidders to review. Clean NM title for the '79; clean CO title for the '92 roller. I actually liked the condition of the 79 body, but if you are looking for a flawless body with no holes drilled, no patina, this is not the truck or deal for you.I wish you luck and happy bidding. Should be fun.
