Description:
1970 Dodge Challenger UNRESTORED SURVIVOR, LOT RUNS & DRIVES
Please note: Before you decide to bid, make sure you read all of the description, and understand it...You are bidding to own, not to come & look and decide you don't want it because it is not what you thought it was or you don't have the money to pay by the terms!!
This is a Numbers Matching, Highly Optioned 1970 Dodge Challenger 2 Door Hardtop, 318 2bbl engine 904 console slap stick automatic transmission with 8 3/4 Sure Grip rear and 3.23 ratio...Light Green Metallic exterior with Green interior and a White vinyl top...This is a unrestored major restoration project car that has been sitting for a long time...Inspections of this car are welcome & strongly recommended before bidding...DON'T ASSUME ANY PARTS OR COMPONENTS ARE INCLUDED OR FUNCTIONAL WITH THIS AUCTION, IF THEY ARE NOT PICTURED OR MENTIONED SPECIFICALLY AS BEING INCLUDED OR WORKING...IF UNSURE, ASK QUESTIONS BEFORE BIDDING...It does not have all hardware installed or included & may not have all areas needing repairs listed...It had a new fuel filter, spark plugs, and distributor cap installed, and does start up and lot runs on a temporary fuel container, but is not inspected or roadready, and will need towed from this location, not driven...Many other pics are available upon request...Documented with dash VIN, fender tag, matching body sequence number stampings, door VIN decal, matching engine and trans VIN stampings, and clear Pa title...No matching broadcast sheet was found...Uniquely built car from the factory that had many of the SE options, but it was not an SE...It also has options that are normally only on performance models, like on an R/T or T/A, and could easily be made into a tribute or clone, if desired...Options include: Rally dash, A/M 8-track w/5 speaker system, Rim Blow steering wheel, rear defrost, Deluxe seat belts w/dash light, light package, pedal dress up, front sway bar, deluxe wheel covers, dual chrome racing mirrors, SE exterior trim belt moldings, front valance molding, rear tail panel trim w/moldings, wide rocker moldings, w/o moldings, body side moldings, door edge guard moldings, PS, 3-speed wipers, 8 3/4 rear w/489 3.23 Sure Grip w/7290 yoke, fender signal indicators, glove box & console lock, and optional front & rear bumper guards with pads...Car is mostly complete and original, including a very nice used grille, headlight bezels, and good used tail light assemblies...It does need total restoration and some parts replacement, from what I see, including the roof skin due to rust around the front and back windows, and most of the other outer body panels, except the doors and rocker panels...The left front floor will need a section or panel...The right front floor pan and rear floor pans are decent and could be repaired...The trunk pan and trunk lid will need replaced...The brake system is complete and appears to be restorable...The brake drums all have very good thickness remaining and could be cut if needed...The brake line on the rear housing is leaking, so the brakes are not totally functional...The front emergency brake cable was rusty and tore...The exhaust system will need replaced...The side and rear glass is original and in very nice shape...The windshield will need replaced...The keys were lost previously, so we installed a new ignition switch...The original trunk lock and ignition switch are included and are shown in the parts pic...There was an FM converter installed years ago that was removed, so the harness is cut at the left kick panel and is missing a section up to the rear speaker switch at least, and maybe more under the dash...The rear speakers are missing, but nothing is cut where they install, and the rear defrost box, motor, and system is intact...All the moldings are on the car, except the back of the hood trim, and they appear to be restorable, except some of the w/o moldings and at least one of the rocker moldings...Gas tank will need replaced, and a Classic Industries replacement fuel tank will be included...All the headliner bows and moldings are intact, only the material was removed...The windshield interior A pillars and visors are nice used...There apparently had been some damage to the front bumper and the passenger's side front fender, because they were replaced many years ago...The hood has also been replaced with a 70 hood...The front frame rails and structure do not show any signs of a major collision, that I can tell, so it must have only been the outer panels on the front...The rear frame rails are not bent, but do have pitting in the back areas with rust pushing at the overlapping area, right in front of the rear shackles...These areas will have rust holes when cleaned up, and will need repaired or sections replaced...The left and right outer areas of the torsion bar cross member also does have some rust holes that will need repaired or a rust repair cap installed...Three of the wheels are correct 70 date coded to the car and appear to be the original 14 inch steelies, but the right front one has been changed...The 4 original deluxe wheel covers are included, but one has some dents...The rare deluxe seat belts are all intact and appear to be restorable...Front bucket seats are good structures and the tracks are complete and function good...The console is not cracked, but the stop cable for the door is not included...A new floor dimmer switch has been installed...All of the electrical components and systems have not been tested yet, but as they are, I will update with info accordingly. At this point the parking lights, turn signals, reverse light and brake lights do function...The horns also work but the rim blow switch as always will need replaced.
