These Dodge Army or National Guard ambulances are kind of the odd duck you only see from time to time. Been told that the Chrysler Corp. only made about 44,000 of them. This truck's ownership passed from National Guard to the Espanola, NM Police Dept. (who painted it white) to an auction high bidder (used car/truck lot) to the present owner. It's been used for a mountain or back-country camper a number of times. Last place it was taken was the back country of Big Bend National Park in Texas. It starts and runs well and will need some work to make it better. Right now the horn doesn't work nor the back-up lights. There's a leak at the bushing surrounding the shaft that exits vertically from the transmission and connects to the linkage. The vehicle was driven 250 miles last Fall without needing to add transmission fluid. Just don't park it on a hill for now.

Battery is pretty old but still starts the engine. Shaft for turn signal wont stay up for right turn so ya' gotta hold it. Brakes are fine. These vehicles were manufactured without power-steering and that goes for this one as well.Seats are obviously not original. And if you're tall, you'll probably want to replace the driver's seat. All rims were changed over to 16 inch from the original 16.5. We do not have the original rims. Sliding side windows in back and two skylights are not original. No jack but a spare tire with excellent tread and matching rim under the rear end.

Trailer hitch receiver was added as well as electrical connector but has not been used as yet for any hauling. Also, original equipment includes two recovery hooks on front-end, visible in photos. That's red primer you see here and there on the roof, not rust. The truck spent most if not all of its life in the southwest so there's very little if any serious rust but rubber around windows and doors is another story. As locals know, the sun can be intense in these parts.

Truck is parked outside of the town of Bayfield, CO. Buyer is solely responsible for final pickup and removal of vehicle from it's present location. Buyer can either drive it or haul it from here.

Communication is what this is all about to keep everyone happy and satisfied with a fair and pleasant transaction. Please ask questions and if you're interested, make an offer.

This truck is also being advertised locally for sale(CL)and this listing may be ended early if that results in a sale.
