1977 Datsun Z-Series

Datsun Z-Series. I have owned this unique and beautify car for a little more then 10 years now, the only reason I’m selling it is because I just a bought me a dream car (air cooled Porsche 911), and i dont have enough space in my garage for all my cars now. I personally have worked on it for almost the whole time except when i got the engine rebuilt in 2016, i had it done at a shop, they rebuilt the complete engine, the original engine, serviced the transmission and the differential, and charged the ac system. I have over the last 10 years, changed air flow meter, dstributor (with cap, rotor, plugs, and wires), flushed the radiator, changed the water temperature sensor, changed the air intake boot, auxiliary air regulator (raises the rpm during a cold start), i have changed all the fuel injectors to factory spec, adjusted the air flow meter to factory spec, timing to factory spec, changed the front brake pads, changed the oil and filter every year (even though i drive about 1000 miles a year), of course the air filter and fuel filters as needed. I have passed smog here in California every two years (LEGALLY), it passes with about .50% co reading about every time, dont get me wrong, it did fail once and thats when i replaced all the injectors. I do have an exhaust reader at home and that how i know when I’m working on it, if its running to factory spec or not. The factory ac works (not the coldest because the old Freon type is not really available here and very expensive, the factory heater works ( i fixed that myself, some of the vacuum lines were cracked), all the gages work, the clock works perfect, the radio is off a 260z, i had the antenna switch replaced on it, so you can actually raise and lower the antenna from that switch on the radio, just like original, the inspection light inside the engine bay still works, the map light inside the car still works, Inside the trunk it’s like a museum, it has the original spare tire, jack, original set of tools, and the tDatsun tire inflator, and in all those items in the trunk i have never in any z cars for sale. The wheels and the little caps are original, and those are very rare too. In 2020 i had the car repainted, two stage ppg paint. The old paint was sanded down (it had 3 layers of paint), primered, sealed and painted. The color that you seeing in the pictures, is slightly more silver than the original blue color it came with. You can see the original color in the engine bay, it’s close but now the same. The new color is actually a color that was used on some of the 90s Porsches, it’s called polar silver, you can google it to see that color on the porsches. I have only one little scratch close to the drivers door, on the quarter panel, I haven’t attempted to touch it up( i do have a small can of the left over paint from the shop), I’ll leave it for the new owner to touch it up. Other than that, it is not a show quality paint job, but it is a very nice driver quality. It does have some flaws when you search for it, but otherwise it looks like show quality. The car runs very nice, smooth, lots of power, the transmissions shifts very smoothly without grinding any gears, the clutch is soft, it is a 4 speed manual, so on the freeway going 65 mph, you’re at about 3200 rpm, but it’s goes very comfortabl, doesnt feel like you’re abusing the car. I do have the 1974 factory shop manual, thats all you need to work on this car, no need to get on forums, this is actually the book the Datsun dealer service departments were using at that time, and of course it will come with the car. This car is a California addition 280z, which means it has a catalytic converter, and the fuel injection module is designed to run more lean and lower co percentage than the other 49 state cars. As far as i know it has been in California its whole life, i am the 4rth owner (based on the conversation with the previous owner), there are no rusts visible on the car. There are three things that you could still fix on this car if you choose to:1) the transmission is a little oily on the bottom side, i believe oil is oozing out the seals, but not enough where its dropping on the floor. You can take it down and reseal it if you want.2) the light inside the glove compartment doesnt work3) the vacuum actuated rpm kick up when you turn on the ac doesn’t work, i never tried fixing it, the ac works, the rpm comes down from 900 to about 800 with the ac on, but thats about it.Here is a link to a video that shows the overall car, interior, exterior, and a short drive, please copy and paste,https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wpGMK04Y-J4
