Description:
1967 Datsun SRL 311 2000
I have for sale a 1967 Datsun 2000 project car, #112. I’ve owned this car for over 27 years and it’s been titled in my name all this time. I bought two 1967 2000s in 1993, this car and another later one without it's original engine. Both were in pretty rough shape when I bought them. I replaced the original body tubs on both cars with better condition 1967.5 1600 bodies when they became available to aid the restorations. The non-matching engine car we’ve driven ever since. I saved this #112 car and planned for a ground up restoration as it was an early car, had its original Solex engine and was my favorite color combination, white with red interior. Multiple Datsun racecar projects took precedence and it’s now time to sell #112 to someone who is interested in restoring this car as it deserves. The engine is original to this early car and has the “B†cam, early Mikuni-Solex carbs and high capacity oil pan (in great shape, no obvious scrapes or cracks). I’ve never run the engine but it turns over with a wrench on the crank and makes compression. The cam and original early one-piece rockers look good. I have included a later style Solex air cleaner with it. I also have a NOS exhaust system that I will include with the car.The frame is sound and had some surface rust but no holes. When I had the body off I wire brushed and painted the top of the frame with rust preventative paint and coated the inside of the frame with Eastwood frame coating. The torque rod mount on the frame was broken (a common problem) so I welded this and boxed in the mount to the frame to repair and reinforce it while the body was off. The frame pads were replaced with closed cell foam before the body was replaced. All frame fastening blind nuts were cleaned with a tap and the bolts coated with antiseeze before replacement. I also welded stress cracks in the firewall, vent window areas of the doors and the trunk (all common problems).Overall, in my opinion, this is a really sound matching number early car for a complete disassembly and restoration. If I didn’t have too many racecar projects I would keep it. The car needs complete restoration but here are some specifics that I’ve noticed that will need attention during restoration:There is some filler around the front left fender headlight bucket. No obvious damage to inner fenders near the front on both sides.Right front inner fender box section is cracked on the bottom and needs repair or replacement. There is some damage to the left rear fender near the bumper that will require some light hammer and dolly work to straighten out. It looks like some rust repair is needed on the left rear near the bottom of the wheel arch. The arches and inner fenders appear good on both sides. Front valance has typical dents etc.Front areas of floors have some small rust holes that will need patching or replacement of those areas. The rest of the floor looks sound but will need to be stripped to be sure. There is a small area in the trunk with pinholes from corrosion where the spare was sitting. The brace on inner fender on driver’s side was cut on the top to allow starter removal but the piece is still there. There is a hole cut in the rear bulkhead for a speaker that will need to be patched. The original under dash and front wiring harnesses are not installed in the car but are with it, same with the original cracked dash pad. Please ask any specific questions you might have or if you want to come inspect the car in person. The car is for sale as is, where is and the buyer will need to make all arrangements for shipping. I can work with the shipper to deliver the car to a nearby shopping center for easy loading. The car obviously doesn’t run and the hydraulics don’t function but the tires hold air, it rolls freely and I have the emergency brake working. Mileage unknown. Any cashier's checks or money orders will need to be cleared and OK'd by my bank before pick up.Vehicle Details:
