1977 datsun 280z Very solid Garage Find. Needs work & Won't pass CA smog test.
1977 Datsun Z-Series
This 1977 280Z sat in a garage for about12 years. I recently purchased it from the original owner and got it running. It will be a good project for restoration. The mileage is original at 70K. I have a clean CA title in my name ready for transfer. The vehicle is classified as Non-Op and does not have a current license tag. Vehicle is being sold as-is with no warranty expressed or implied. WILL NOT PASS CALIFORNIA SMOG TEST! Smog certificate will be the buyers responsibility.
The good:
Vehicle is complete and has no rust or past rust repair. The body is very solid top to bottom.
Drives pretty well other than engine miss. Transmission shifts well and feels solid.
Brakes were repaired including new hydraulics just prior to long term storage and work as they should.
The bad:
Engine runs but has a low cylinder. Probably needs a valve job. Also should have fuel and water hoses replaced to be reliable. Water pump is noisy.
WILL NOT PASS CALIFORNIA SMOG TEST! Smog certificate will be the buyers responsibility.
The vehicle was repainted approx 20 years ago and is badly faded in spots.
Tires have lots of tread but are quite old and should be replaced for safety.
