1962 Chrysler Newport

1962 Chrysler Newport
361 big block V8. Pushbutton Aluminum 727 Torqueflite automatic.
Car will run and drive. I had the car running and the transmission goes into gear strong. The engine seemed to run well. The carb/choke needs work. The starter was on its last legs but I will include another starter. It uses the later style starters as with any other 727/904 transmission.
The brakes were apparently replaced by the previous owner. They did seem to work. The car is equipped with power brakes. The car is also equipped with power steering which operated well.
The body is in great shape. Some minor dings in a few places. The car was painted in base/clear and the clear has peeled on most of the top surface areas. Some minor rust on the front pans with some small metal patches welded in. Some bubbling on the doglegs. Some small holes in the trunk floor. The hood was drilled for two hood locks that are mounted on the radiator support. All the glass is good. Windows roll up and down easily.
Interior is as pictured. Front seat is worn and there are seat covers on both front and back. Door panels and window surrounds painted blue. Car originally had a copper/champagne colored interior. The radio plate was cut for a modern radio. The electroluminescent dash lighting still works. Exterior lighting all works.
The transmission is a one year only big block pattern, aluminum 727 Torqueflite that utilizes a parking drum on the tailshaft. Many people use the transmission for earlier MoPars that require a parking drum setup.
The trunk is full of various parts. The old brake components, extra booster, the sill plates, etc.
I only drove the car around the yard and not on the road. The tires all hold air nice.
Have CA title and keys. Original CA black plates. Has $600 in back fees. (Only pertinent to CA residents if registering in CA.) Fees can be waived: CA motor vehicle code 4604d3.
