1961 Impala Bubbletop Resto Mod Pro Touring Air Ride AC Nut and Bolt restoration
1961 Chevrolet Impala
1961 Impala BubbletopUp for auction is a bad ass 61 Impala Bubbletop Restomod. This is not your average restored 61 Impala. This is a high end car with lots of attention to detail and no expense spared. This was an extremely solid original metal survivor prior to the restoration. A restoration of this caliber, the right color, the right options, combined with modern suspension, brakes, wheels, and a completely upgraded drive train, make this 61 hard to top. This car was built with long term investment in mind. Nothing has been altered to permanently affect the cars integrity or originality. Nothing was cut or welded. The car could easily be put back to stock later on down the road if someone wanted to do so. This is a complete nut and bolt build with everything new, rebuilt, replaced, or restored. Every single clip, screw, bearing, seal, nut and bolt have been gone through on this car. It was done right and it shows. The power steering, big brakes, new Air Conditioning setup, new suspension, and 4 speed overdrive trans make this car a joy to drive. The paint on the car was professionally done and looks great! It is very slick and has been color sanded and buffed to a glass finish. The car is straight down the sides and has VERY little filler in it. Very nice panel fitment. All the gaps look good. No blisters or bubbles. The motor is a SB code 1962 300HP 327 from a 62 vette that has been completely gone through and is nicely built. It is .30 over, has a mild cam, double hump heads, a newer Edelbrock carb with electric choke, HEI distributor, and aluminum radiator. This motor was professionally built and is a very tight running motor. It doesn't leak, knock, tick, tap or smoke. I would estimate it somewhere between 350-400 hp. The motor has Billet Specialties Streamline valve covers and air cleaner. The radiator support, inner fenders, and some of the other front end parts were powder coated gloss black. The valve covers, air cleaner, intake, pulleys, brackets, and engine parts have been either shot in base / clear, or are gloss powder coated. The entire engine compartment was finished with great detail. It was painted with the front clip off the car. The firewall is nice and slick, as is the underside of the hood. As you can see everything was painted apart. No painted-over bolt heads, all hardware is either new, or blasted and re-coated original. Lots of time and money spent getting the engine compartment to look as good as it does. The car runs extremely well. It makes good power, sounds good, idles smooth, and is still very reliable and very driveable. The transmission is a 700r-4 overdrive that has been gone through as well. It has a mild shift kit and shifts nice. It has a Lokar shifter. The suspension is all brand new. It is fully adjustable four corner air ride, with electric valves. It uses all quality components from RideTech, Viair, SMC, and has been professionally installed and functions just as it should. It is fully adjustable and can be raised or lowered by the controls on the dash to set your desired ride height. The car has tubular upper and lower control arms with all new bushings, seals, and ball joints. The brakes have been upgraded with high end parts. A Wilwood master cylinder and Wilwood proportioning valve were added to feed the massive 14" brake. The car stops very well. The wheels are brand new 2 Piece Billets that were made right here in the USA by Esajian wheel. They are 18x8.5 in the front and 20x10s in the rear wrapped in new Z-rated rubber. The interior in the car is all new and looks fantastic! New seats, door panels, tuxedo carpet, headliner, kick panels, package tray, door handles, window cranks, etc. are all new. The dash was shot in base clear. All new dash stainless, glove-box stainless, new ash tray, new modern sound radio with iPod hookup, and new speakers. The steering wheel was restored, with new horn buttons, a new horn grill, new emblem, new paint dividers, and it was shot in base clear. New under dash insulation and pad. The original heater box was restored. All the door seals, felts, rubbers, windshield seals, weatherstrip, and anything rubber has been replaced. This car has very nice bright work! The bumpers were replated, the stainless was straightened and re polished, the grill was straightened and chrome plated, the side moldings replaced, door handles, emblems, fender ornaments, etc. are new. The aluminum tail light bezels have been chrome plated. Front bumper guard was replated along with the rear bumperettes. All the aluminum seat trim has been chrome plated. Most of the other interior anodized aluminum trim has been straightened, repolished, and re-anodized.Everything on this car works, I mean every thing! Every single switch, knob, gauge, dummy lights, even the clock, all work and perform perfectly. The AC blows ice cold. This is an extremely solid car that spent is life in LA and it shows! This was a clean original paint survivor car prior to the build. When you start with a good one they are that much better when they are done. This car retains original trunk, floors, braces, body mounts, quarters, fenders, etc. This is an original metal accident free car.The doors close with one finger! The windows roll up perfectly and line up to the roof nicely. The car seals up really well.Overall, this Bubbletop is sure to please anybody! It is an absolute blast to drive and cruises highway speeds very well! It's tight, smooth, and tracks straight down the road. It stops, steers, and rides very well. This is a 3 year build with lots of attention to detail and LOTS of money spent! These cars are steadily gaining in value and one of this caliber is sure to appreciate in value and be a great investment. I have owned, driven, and built LOTS of bubbletops; I know what I am looking at and know a good car when i see one.I encourage any interested buyer to come see the car in person.
