1965 Chevrolet Corvette

1965 Corvette Coupe. This was a factory 396/425HP originally. Only 618 coupes were produced with Corvette's first big block engine. All of the identifying features unique to the 396/425 HP are there ( Frame crossmember indentation for large harmonic balancer, LH battery, LH fender well removable access door for battery installation, HD front sway bar, rear sway bar, 80 lb oil gauge, 6500 redline tach, Vented big block hood) The engine is a period correct NOM 396 Hi Perf Pass (A 18 6 ) casting with aluminum intake and Holley four barrel carburetor. The rare 396/425 HP exhaust manifolds are intact and the exhaust system is in excellent shape. The Muncie M21 transmission is the correct 3851325 casting used on the 396/425 HP. The flywheel is dated (I 25 6) The rear end is a 3.55 posi. 4 wheel disc brakes feature stainless steel sleeved calipers.Upgrades include a Hurst shifter, Mini-Lite style rims with Michelin radials, and a fiberglass transverse rear leaf spring. There are no signs that the body has had any collision work. Panels are straight and door alignment is excellent. The Q-Q paint code indicates it was Silver on the day it was born in about May of 1965. The worst blemishes are on the rear deck by the gas filler door. ( see photo) Chrome is bright and also in good condition. The big block hood is original to the car and does have a small crack on the hood frame. The interior is black with leather seats. The carpet is in good shape and is the correct style and weave. All gauges work and the mileage is in the 60K range. Trim and glovebox door is bright and free of wear. The frame is in remarkable condition for the age of the car.As is the case with most vintage Corvettes, limited mileage makes a complete assessment of belts, hoses, and fluids a priority to address for pleasurable driving. Engine, brakes, and routine tuning was done recently. The car does drive nice. Documents accompany the car that detail service and rebuilding done to make the car a trustworthy companion.Based on the limited production and survivor quality of this car, it's an opportunity to pick up Corvette's first big block for a fair price. This is an excellent candidate to secure an original engine and restore to factory configuration. The current market for C2 396/425's is low six figures. These are hard to find. Please ask questions before you bid. I have described this car to the best of my ability but with anything over 50 years old, components have been replaced that are not those born on the car. All sales are final and no warranties are expressed or implied. Please review pictures and feel free to ask questions. Good Luck
