If you have been looking for a Mid-Year Corvette that is ready to enjoy, this is an extremely nice example. It is a 1964 Chevrolet Corvette Coupe that had a body off restoration performed on it approximately 2800 miles ago. It was completed around 2018. The Vette is turnkey and ready to have some fun today! The Corvette has been a one owner car it's entire life. We purchased it from a close friend of the shop's family after he recently passed away. If you are tired of looking at junk, this car is far nicer than most of the stuff for sale out there these days. Pictures do not really do it justice. Even though it looks great in photos, it is probably even nicer in person.
According to the original owner, the Corvette was ordered new as an L76 327/365HP car. It is not a numbers matching engine now. The original engine was replaced in the early 1970s. I personally like ones like this better because you can drive and enjoy them as much as you want without worry. Not to mention, the small block Chevy that is in it now would far outperform any of the stock 64 engine options. It dynoed at 425HP. It is a 10:1 compression 350 V-8 with a Comp Cams Roller Cam, 2.02 heads, steel crank, Arias pistons, Pink rods, Holley carburetor, and original Winters aluminum intake. It runs extremely well. It always starts right up, settles into a healthy idle, and sounds awesome. THIS CORVETTE IS FAST AND FUN!
Everything was new at the time of the restoration so obviously, the Corvette performs like you would expect it to. The clutch is excellent, the Muncie 4 speed shifts very smoothly, the brakes are excellent, the suspension is excellent. The car runs and drives great. It is not a rattle trap like alot of Vettes. I would not be nervous to hit the key and drive this car anywhere. The interior was restored as well. The upholstery is excellent, the dashpads are excellent, the carpet is excellent, the door panels are excellent, the headliner is excellent. All of the gauges work fine. The factory clock has even been restored and works. The headlight motors and electrical all work well. It has a third tail light added on each side which was an extremely popular thing to do in Southern California back in the day. They were added when the car was new and the original owner was adamant on keeping it that way during the restoration. In fact, he had to be talked out of adding a fourth!
The paint and body are beautiful. The fit and finish is very nice. The car was originally Satin Silver from the factory, which is a bit of a dull Silver in my opinion. A much more eye catching Mercedes Silver was used and it definitely pops in the sun now. It looks incredible. It does have a scratch in the paint on the passenger side fender from the movers scratching it with something. Nobody saw it and nobody would own up to it. It would be easily fixed, but in the interest of full disclosure, it is there. It also has one chip about the size of a pencil eraser just above the fuel filler cap that has been touched up. The frame and undercarriage are excellent. The chrome and stainless are very nice. Polished American Torq Thrust wheels with good tires. Clean, clear California title in hand and it has the CA black and yellow license plates. I am located in Solana Beach, California in North County Coastal San Diego. I already have a 1963 Split Window, a 1965 Big Block Coupe, and a 1967 427 Roadster. They are not for sale. If I had any room left, this one would not be going anywhere. You would spend well into the six figures to restore this car yourself (which the original owner did!) and at least twice what you can buy this one for to enjoy the day that you get it. If you can find a nicer Corvette for the money, you should buy it.
