Awesome Custom C40 truck

The original truck was an old farm truck with longer stake bed. It was modified by shortening the frame and fabricating a C10 bed with extended metal fender flares from another truck to cover the dually axles. The rear fender flares were cut from another C40 and welded into an 8 foot C10 bed. The right front fender was welded to the left rear and vice versa. The running boards from the other truck were also utilized to extend the side running boards. Two trucks and tons of labor hours were necessary to build this very unique truck. The truck’s restoration was completed in 2021 including a new paint job in GM copper of the era, and Ford Wimbledon White for a nice two tone appearance. Brand new side moldings were installed after the paintwork.

This is an all original drivetrain including the original straight six, 292ci with a 4-speed transmission. This truck starts with ease and runs like an antique Singer sewing machine. The driveline only has been driven 65k miles in its life. The engine bay is completely restored and looks great, with attention to detail.

A custom wood bed was completed in 2022 using the same copper paint that is on the truck to stain the wood. Custom aluminum strips were placed between the boards. The wood bed is actually removable and reveals a color matched bed liner.

The interior was painted at the same time as the truck, and all new flooring and seat cover was put on the original seat. The interior looks like new.

The only thing I know the truck needs is the horn doesn’t work and it will need new tires soon.

Be the only one at the car shows with this unique vehicle. It’s an absolute attention getter. There are very few of these trucks made by people, maybe 20 in the country. One sold through Barrett-Jackson for $135,000. That one did have an updated drivetrain, but I’m not asking $135,000. Another one sold on Bring a Trailer for $30,000 and it had none of the bed modifications, and the underside was very rusty. That said, these are the two comparable trucks, and the value of my truck should fall somewhere between the two values stated. I set the buy it now price at $40,000.

I’m hoping someone will buy this truck who really appreciates this work of art, the time that went into it, and it’s distinctly unique characteristics. Bid with confidence that you are getting a nicely restored and great running truck.

Thanks, any questions or need more photos left me know. I’m attaching a video from YouTube.
