This is a very cool old truck with great looking patina on the outside and tons of upgrades on the inside. Thetruck appears to be very solid with history in Texas and California. Thanks to all of the upgrades the truck drives very well.
The engine is a ~400 HP aluminum LS2 that came out of a 2005 GTO with ~10,000 miles on it. the engine is dressed to look like a vintage engine with a Holley 4BBL intake, dual snorkel air cleaner, and Chevrolet script coil covers paired with the matching valve cover basis. It also features a Holley swap oil pan and Hooker exhaust manifolds. Front and center is a Holley mid-mount accessory drive. The engine is painted bright Chevy orange to give it the right period look providing a nice contrast with the black air cleaner and the aqua body color. A DeWitts radiator with twin electric fans keeps things cool and a stainless exhaust with stainless mufflers routes spent gasses to the rear of the truck.
The engine is controlled by a Holley EFI Terminator X Max ECU and it runs great. The ECU is mounted under the seat on the passenger side. A drive-by-wire throttle body is concealed inside the air cleaner for smooth control of the power.
The transmission is a new Tremec T56 Magnum 6-speed with gear selection handled thru a Hurst shifter. An OE F-Body aluminum bellhousing connects the transmission to the LS2 and a new LS7 flywheel, clutch, and pressure plate sends the revs to the transmission. The clutch pedal has been converted to a hydraulic unit for extremely smooth actuation. An aluminum driveshaft spins the 12-bolt truck rear end with a limited slip differential puts down the power to the pavement.
A Dakota Digital Retrotech gauge cluster keeps the driver informed while maintaining all the style and charm of the original gauges. The original mileage is unknown. The current mileage on the odometer represents the mileage that has accumulated since the build was completed.
The old manual steering box was replaced by a C10 squarebody power steering box. The box was rebuilt and upgraded by Lee Power Steering. Upgrades include a conversion to roller bearings (from bushings) with a billet upper that houses the top bearing and a billet end plate. After trying lots of different options on numerous projects I've found these Lee boxes to be hands down the best solution out there for this type of steering gear.
The interior has been repainted a tan color and the stock seat has been re-foamed and re-upholstered. The seat is mounted on lowered fixed risers. An aftermarket A/C system keeps things cool (or warm) as needed. An aftermarket tilt column and smaller diameter steering wheel styled after later second gen C10 wheels finishes off the interior.
The truck has an aftermarket stereo which I believe is a blue tooth unit. It appears to be operational (the unit lights up) but I have never tried pairing it with my phone.
The links above provide many detailed photos that really tell the story of the truck's condition and the many modifications that make this truck so great.
The truck has great patina including dents, dings, scratches, scrapes, scuffs, chips, wear, rust, touchups and other imperfections consistent with its age and use. The paint is faded and thinning in places, worn away in places, and has surface rust visible in places. I noticed some minor rust perforation in the tailgate which really adds to the vibe of the truck. I also noticed some other relatively small holes here and there in the photos which may also be some rust. The underside of the truck and door bottoms look very solid for an unrestored truck of this vintage.
The truck does not currently have seatbelts but aftermarket seatbelts could be added. The Texas license plate is not included in the sale.
