This '57 Chevy 3100 pickup with the much desired short bed body style was just recently finished in a frame off rebuilt from top to bottom. Just 2400 miles miles on the odometer since August 2022 when it was completed.
The beginning of this adventure started with a very nice original no rust pickup that had been in dry storage for the last 40 years. Minor body work and the truck was ready to be shot in Ford Ultra White with the trim around the center of the cab done in KIA Fiery Red Pearl. The entire under body, that includes inside the fenders, under the cab, inside the engine compartment and inside the bed was done in bed-liner tinted with the same Ultra White that was squirted on the pickup exterior.
The original frame was boxed and powder coated. TCI front independent coil-over kit with Wilwood 11" disc brakes stops you in your tracks. Power rack and pinion steering definitely aids in the handling of the little pickup. Dropout transmission mount holds the 700R4 tranny in place. The rear of the frame is C'ed to help in lowering the truck. New parallel leaf springs support the 9" Ford rear end with 3:50 gears. 11" brakes in the rear to match the fronts. And there is a receiver hitch 'hidden' behind the fold-down license plate.
Moving this pickup down the road is a completely rebuilt 350 cu. in. Chevrolet small block with Sniper Throttle Body fuel injection. Finned aluminum valve covers and matching air cleaner go along with the "Old School" look. Rams Horn exhaust manifolds have been coated. New aluminum radiator and custom shroud helps keep things cool. New Interstate battery for quick starting. American Billet hood hinges. New aluminum 20 gallon gas tank.
Front tires are Michelin 215-60R16, rears are 255-70R16 mounted on red steelies with 'ribbed' beauty rings and baby moon hubcaps.
The interior is so comfortable you may not want to get out of the seat. The stock bench seat is done in red leather with a Cadillac fold-down arm rest with cup holders that has been incorporated into the seat center. Red carpet completes the interior. Chrome pieces inside and out are all new. Vintage air allows you to cruise in the hot summer without that torrid hot air beating you in the face. Ididit tilt column topped with a cut down '55 Chevy passenger car steering wheel, 14 1/2" in diameter. Classic gauges keep you informed of what's going on under the hood. Rain gear windshield wipers, Antique Auto radio with Blue Tooth that fits into the original radio "slot" without cutting up the dash. Sirius radio along with the controller for the Sniper unit are housed in the glove box. Nut Relics power windows with micro switches operated by the original stock door handles. American Autowire wiring kit throughout.
All new Oak wood in the bed separated by new chrome channels. New weather stripping and window bumpers keep the 'rattles' under control. Sequential turn signals and brake 'strips' along with stock taillights bring up the rear.
