1957 Chevrolet 3100 stepside pickup with short bed
1957 Chevrolet Other Pickups
I'm giving up on finishing my 1957 truck project. It rolls, steers, shifts, and brakes. However, it still needs a complete engine rebuild, all wiring harnesses, modern tires, and a paint job as well as other mechanical and cosmetic repairs. I'll be glad to deliver it within 100 miles for no additional cost. The mileage listed is just a guess; eBay forced me to enter some number. I wasn't allowed to say "unknown". BODY: It has fiberglass front fenders with good floors and glass. The outer cab corners and lower door skins are reproduction metal patch panels. The cab inner lower corner back-up panels have some rust damage that hasn't been repaired (see photos). The bed wooden slats have been covered with a single plywood sheet. The body trim, tailgate, frame, and suspension have never been rusty or bent. INTERIOR: The bench seat has been rebuilt with a cloth and vinyl cover that's now faded and has a cigarette burn on the passenger side (see photos). From the factory this truck had no radio, heater, or even armrests. It now has an old add-on heater and an eighties tape deck. There are many extra holes (for aftermarket speakers, switches, bolts/screws, and wiring) that need to be filled. ENGINE: Currently a 1979 Camaro 350 V8. It was running last summer, but then spun a rod bearing. This damaged the #6 connecting rod, its crank rod journal, the oil pan, and the skirts of two pistons. The standard bore block, stock 1.94" heads, AFB 4-barrel w/electric choke, and Edelbrock Performer RPM aluminum intake are all okay for rebuilding. TRANSMISSION: It is now a seventies TH400 automatic with a B&M floor shifter. The dipstick tube and front converter seal both leak. Originally this truck had a manual transmission, and the clutch pedal / linkage are still there. PAINT: The Los Angeles GM assembly plant originally painted this truck with light tan lacquer. The body has been repainted twice, once in bright yellow and then in the current red color. The red paint is a poorly applied two-stage urethane over amateur bodywork, and the clear coat is flaking off.TITLE: I have a clear, open, signed-off Montana title and a Bill of Sale. Unfortunately Alabama doesn't issue titles for pre-1974 vehicles.PAYMENT: While I am requiring a $500 deposit to be paid by PayPal within 48 hours, it will be fully refunded if you don't want to buy my truck after inspecting it. Please phone me for more information (see last photo). I'll be glad to politely answer any questions you have except "How much will you take?". I'm also willing to email more photos. Sorry, but I don't text. Thanks for reading all this.Jerry Bramlett
