Vehicle Details

1970 Chevelle Malibu 2dr coupe resto mod. Very recent mechanical and interior build. Moving and this one has to go. It's been worked on by me, several garages, transmission shop and a local classic car shop. A lot of hands on it and it seems to be in fantastic mechanical condition. That being said, it only has 160 miles since finishing the build (all except the paint and body) so I really haven't had time to even properly break it in. So far, I am completely happy with it, but just don't have the history to definitively tell you everything is perfect on it. I've been slowly working on the car for about 7 years. It is a Malibu and originally came with a 307 and auto trans. I have included a few of the build photos to show some of the work done. Car has a 383 crate motor with only 160 miles since installed. According to engine builder, this should produce about 425HP. Original TH350 transmission rebuilt by a local shop with a stall converter and shift kit. Even though most would say that you must get a 12 bolt or Ford 9 inch, I decided to keep and rebuild the original 10 bolt rear end with new Yukon posi-trac and 3.55 gearset and new axle shafts. So far it seems to be handling the stroker motor without incident. With the original TH350 and 3.55 gearing, it does not love the highway. It does love driving around town and light to light. It will catch rubber in second gear and smokey burnouts are periodically encouraged. New power disk brakes all around with new red calipers, pads, lines, e-brake, master cylinder and chrome booster. Adjustable coil over springs all around with tubular control arms with new bushings and ball joints. Completely new power steering from wheel to wheel with new steering box, pump and even new tilt column. Vintage air A/C system that is charged and working (doesn't seem to blow out of outer vents in dash for some reason but blows cold thru other vents. Holley sniper EFI with control module and in-tank Holley fuel pump installed with new fuel tank. Serpentine pulley system with chrome accessories. Mishimoto aluminum radiator with dual 12-inch electric fans. Hooker headers with new mufflers and dual exhaust. Wipers work but washer is not hooked up (reservoir is installed). Interior has new Dakota Digital gauges, new dash pad, seats recovered, new door panels and carpet. The fuel gauge works intermittently. I don't think its the gauge but haven't been able to figure it out. Interior has new door panels, dash pad, seat upholstery, carpet, sound deadening underneath and new steering wheel. Alpine stereo with Alpine rear and front kick panel speakers. Headliner has wrinkles but no holes. Seat belts are upgraded to 3 point, but they are grey. Cigarette lighter works! All glass is good and back windows have new felts rollers so they work nicely. Rear window seal leaks when at car wash. Windows roll up and down nicely, but could be adjusted a bit to be perfectly sealing. New Autowire wiring with new style fuse box. Car looks amazing from 10 feet, but it is in no way a quality paint job. Obviously an amateur paint job with lots of orange peel on passenger side door and onto hood. Tried to cut and polish a lot of the paint with some success. Hard to see in pics. Driver side looks much smoother. If you want a show car paint job, you will definitely need to have it painted. I am sure it also has it's share of body filler and bodywork in all the usual places. You can take it to local car shows and get tons of compliments on the road, but it is an amateur paint job. Top is in really good shape with just a touch of delaminating on the passenger side. Really got to get close to see it. Has SS badging on horn cap, grill and fenders. This is a driver quality car with many new quality parts and really does run amazingly strong. It is really a fun car to drive around town. It is not a show car and I have tried to disclose any defects as honestly as I can. Again, it is a new build and its old, so please do not expect it to be perfect. The frame is solid with no issues there. I patched a small hole in driver's floor and found no other rust through on interior floor pan. This is a classic 50 year old car, so I wouldn't try to drive it across the country. Please do not ask me to pick you up from the airport. Do not bid if you do not have the money or have less than 10 transactions. I will cancel your bid. I will try to answer all intelligent questions quickly. I will work with your shipper or anyone who would like to see the car in person. Super-reasonable reserve, so I am sure it will sell quickly. Good luck.
